The Mercedes brand began selling the CLE Cabriolet in April after consolidating the C-class and E-class Cabriolet lineups. As a top contender in the convertible market, this flagship model is currently leading the industry.
The beloved Mercedes brand is strengthening its market position by sharing news about the CLE Cabriolet on the 7th. Let’s explore the potential impact of the ambitiously unveiled Mercedes CLE 53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet on the industry.
What do we know about the CLE 53 Cabriolet’s exterior and interior?
The CLE 53 Cabriolet features aggressive-looking grills, sporty bumpers, wider fenders, and quad-round tailpipes, showcasing AMG’s signature design. Additionally, the electrically folding fabric roof, available in black, red, and gray, is a new design feature, along with the redesigned rear deck and chrome trim surrounding the interior, distinguishing the CLE 53 Coupe and Cabriolet.
Inside, there’s a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and an 11.9-inch entertainment system equipped with a power-tilting feature that reduces glare. The car also includes an electric wind deflector and a neck heating and ventilation system for adverse weather conditions. The roof takes 20 seconds to fold and can be used at speeds up to 37.3 mph (60 km/h).
Outshining Pre-released Models with AMG Performance
The CLE 53 Cabriolet shares the same powertrain as its coupe counterpart. The twin-turbo 3.0L inline 6-cylinder gasoline engine delivers 443 horsepower and 420.5 lb-ft of torque, which can increase to 450.4 lb-ft with the over-boost function. If equipped with a 48V starter generator, it can add an extra 22 horsepower and 15.4 lb-ft, enhancing efficiency.
The power is transferred to all four wheels via a 9G Speedshift gearbox and a fully variable 4MATIC+ system. Moreover, unlike the pre-released cabriolet, this model also features an adaptive AMG Ride Control suspension, a 3-stage AMG parameter steering, high-performance brakes, and a standard rear-axle steering.
The Exceptionally Fast CLE 53 and the Upcoming 63 Model
The CLE 53 Cabriolet can also sprint from 0 to 62.1 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.4 seconds. The optional AMG Dynamic Plus package’s Race Start feature can shorten this time to 4.2 seconds, matching the coupe’s acceleration performance. The top speed is electronically limited to 155.3 mph (250 km/h), but it can be increased to 167.8 mph (270 km/h) depending on the options.
The price and release schedule of the new Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet will be announced later. Like the lower versions of the CLE Cabriolet, the AMG model is expected to be more expensive than its coupe counterpart. AMG plans to unveil a more powerful CLE 63 with an E-Performance plug-in hybrid system, making the high-performance convertible market one to watch.
