Smashed Supercar: The Unexpected Worth of a Wrecked Lamborghini

A Lamborghini Murcielago wrecked in an accident is up for auction.

Typical supercars have tremendous performance and corresponding rarity. As a result, it is bound to have a high price range that cannot be found in other vehicles. So what will be the price of a supercar that was destroyed in an accident?

Recently, a Lamborghini Murcielago appeared on the online auction site, eBay, and is becoming a hot topic around the world. The fact that it is Lamborghini’s supercar is enough to make it a hot topic, but what made it a hot topic was the condition of the vehicle. Why was the vehicle destroyed from an accident posted on an auction site?

The Questionable Murcielago Up for Auction

There are a total of two Murcielago up for auction this time. One is the LP580 model with a yellow body, and the other is the LP 640 model with a white body. Through the released photos, it was confirmed that both models were broken to a level where their shapes were difficult to recognize.

If it’s fortunate, is it fortunate? The V12 engine and gearbox appear to still be mounted on the chassis. However, almost all parts appear to be missing. The only parts that retain their original form are the signature five-spoke alloy wheels, a set of suicide doors, and part of the dashboard. The case of the white Murcielago features cracked fenders and is missing the bumper, hood, and headlights, although the front clips are present.

The Last Model Equipped with the Old V12 Engine

The Murcielago is the 4th generation V12 flagship mid-engine supercar of the Lamborghini brand. A total of 4,099 units of this model were delivered as of November 5, 2010, starting with the LP580, the successor to Diablo, in 2001. It is also known to be the last vehicle equipped with the old Lamborghini V12 engine. Even though the vehicle was launched in 2001, it has continued to be loved by many enthusiasts to this day.

In particular, there is always a lot of interest in the old V12 engine, which is no longer available. The engine has provided 572 horsepower to the Murcielago. In the case of the LP 640D model, a facelift model, it has generated 631 horsepower.

The Reason Behind the Auction

Usually, when a driver scraps a vehicle, they can get back the money for selling the scrap metal and other parts, and depending on the market price, they can receive about $ 220~440. However, the price of this Lamborghini Murcielago, which appears to have already been scrapped, is known to have exceeded $10,984.

It is common to see vehicles sold at high prices for display even if they cannot be driven. The reason the model was traded at a high price is because of the rarity of the parts. Since many parts have already been discontinued, there is a possibility that they can be worth more if handled by experts.
