Made based on Alpine A110
Zagato AGTZ twin tail model
Characterized by long tail and short tail transitions
Zagato is an automobile design company based in Italy. It has designed special coach builds for luxury vehicles such as Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo. Zagato is about to unveil the Zagato AGTZ Twin Tail, based on the Alpine A110.
The vehicle is said to be officially unveiled soon in Lake Como, Italy, and is said to be equipped with a rear tail inspired by the A220. Also, it is said to be produced in limited quantities, so it is receiving everyone’s attention.
Carbon Fiber Tail Equipped Allows Long and Short Tail Conversion
The Zagato AGTZ Twin Tail is coach-built; most parts are made from carbon fiber. A special feature of the vehicle is its carbon fiber tail, which can be switched between a long and short tail. The long tail offers better aerodynamics, while the short tail is better for everyday use. When the short tail is installed, the length becomes 4,302 mm (169.4 inches), and when the long tail is installed, the length becomes 4,798 mm (188.9 inches), which is about 622 mm (24.5 inches) longer than the A110 on which the body is based.
The name twin tail is said to have been derived from the fact that the rear tail can be converted in two ways. Zagato announced that it will produce only 19 of these vehicles in limited quantities and that one will take 1,000 hours to assemble.
Equipped with a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder Engine
Capable of Delivering 249 Horsepower
Although Zagato did not specifically reveal the powertrain of the AGTZ Twin Tail, it likely maintains the 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine installed in the Alpine A110. The powertrain can produce around 249 horsepower, and paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch, rear-wheel drive setup, it can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in around 4.5 seconds.
Consumers can choose from 9 symbol colors and 19 color combinations. The Zagato AGTZ Twin Tail uses blue, white, and red to pay homage to the French national flag. The official weight of the vehicle has not yet been announced, but considering that most of the body is made of twin tails, it is expected to be much lighter than the A110, which weighs about 1,102 kg (2,429 lbs).
Price approximately $700,000
To be unveiled at FuoriConcorso
The project team that created the Zagato AGTZ Twin Tail said, “The automobile industry is changing faster than ever,” and “As cars become electric, competition has become more intense, and it has become more difficult to differentiate products in terms of performance and driving stimulation.” They added, “Design will therefore assume greater importance, and our unique projects will not disappoint consumers.”
The vehicle’s price is estimated to be approximately $700,000. The Zagato AGTZ Twin Tail will be unveiled at the FuoriConcorso event in Lake Como, Italy, from May 25th to 26th. Afterward, it will be delivered to consumers in October of this year.
