6 Most Hated Cars According to American Drivers

Consumer Reports survey results
Worst Cars of 2024
6 models with the lowest scores

Choosing a good car is challenging. Numerous new models are launched yearly, yet finding a model without defects is extremely rare. Potential defects have increased, particularly as new vehicles incorporate increasingly complex electronics and software.

Which vehicles should we especially avoid? The ranking of the worst cars of 2024, which evaluates various factors such as comprehensive performance, convenience, and defects, is a hot topic. A survey conducted by American consumer media outlet Consumer Reports among general drivers gave a rating out of 100.

Jeep Gladiator

Ford Bronco: 46 Points
Jeep Gladiator: 45 Points

Ford’s midsize SUV Bronco, which claims to be an authentic off-roader, scored 46 points out of 100. Compared to competing models, the lack of sophistication and road agility had a significant impact. Long braking distances, poor fuel efficiency, loud interior noise levels, and a predicted reliability score of just 37 also took their toll.

The Gladiator, Jeep’s only pickup truck model, was ranked 5th in the worst cars 2024 with 45 points. Road test scores and owner satisfaction remained at a medium level, and the predicted reliability score was at a low level of 40 points. However, it must be considered that it is difficult to receive positive reviews from general drivers due to the nature of the Jeep brand, which specializes in off-road driving.

Jeep Renegade
Polestar 2

Jeep Renegade: 44 Points
Polestar 2: 38 Points

Renegade, Jeep’s entry-level model, earned 44 points. Its appearance, which combines the style of an urban SUV, received good reviews. Still, many shortcomings were pointed out, such as a hard ride, clumsy shifting, poor visibility, uncomfortable front seats, and low fuel efficiency. Owner satisfaction was only 1 out of 5 and predicted reliability was 33 out of 100.

It may seem surprising that Polestar 2 received only 38 points. However, consumers who responded to Consumer Reports’ survey gave Polestar 2 an expected reliability score of only 5 out of 100. In addition, the rough ride quality, confusing control system, and narrow interior space compared to the car class were also mentioned as disappointing factors.

Mitsubishi Mirage
Jeep Wrangler

Mitsubishi Mirage: 38 Points
Jeep Wrangler: 25 Points

The Mitsubishi Mirage, currently one of the cheapest passenger cars, received 38 points, the same as Polestar, and tied for second place. Low price and high fuel efficiency were clear advantages, but sloppy handling, interior noise, weak powertrain, and wrong seat position were cited as problems. Consumers who participated in the survey were advised to purchase a used car instead of a new car if they wanted to buy the model.

The long-awaited first place was the Jeep Wrangler. The total score is 25 out of 100, an overwhelming first place. The Wrangler was criticized for its awkward ergonomic design, noisy interior, hard ride, and poor fuel economy. The predicted reliability and road test scores were 27 and 34 points, respectively.
