Don’t Be Fooled By Its Compact Body Size

The size of the Tharu XR is 171.5 inches in length, 69.4 inches in width, 63.2 inches in height, and 104.4 inches in wheelbase. The overall length is 4.1 inches and the wheelbase is 1.1 inches shorter than the Tharu. Although the length has been reduced by 3.9 inches, the loss of wheelbase length appears to have been minimized to secure maximum interior space.

The powertrain is divided into two specifications: a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and a gasoline turbo engine. The 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine generates a maximum output of 160 horsepower and a maximum torque of 25.5 kgf.m. It is equipped with Volkswagen’s DSG automatic transmission and operates in front-wheel drive.

Similar To The Tharu And Tiguan, But With A Sharper Design

The design features a horizontal thin grille at the top of the front and a chrome garnish along the grille line. The end of the headlamp connected to the grille protrudes sharply toward the side. The headlamp box has an angled line close to a trapezoid applied to create a strong image on the front. In a similar tone, the bumper grille is also applied at a right angle.

The bumper grille, which extends horizontally along the entire width, has the effect of making the vehicle body look wider. At the same time, horizontal and vertical patterns are applied to create a more solid appearance. The headlamp and grille feature a family look similar to other Volkswagen models such as the Tiguan, but the bumper design differentiates it.

Price Likely Between $16,000 To $20,000

The exact rear design has not been revealed, but it does not seem to be much different from the Tharu. Tharu is equipped with a rectangular tail lamp at the rear, which runs horizontally across the tailgate. However, for the Tharu XR, the top of the tail lamp side is sharply extended, and a design similar to the front headlamp is applied.

Volkswagen plans to unveil more detailed information about the Tharu XR in the near future. The exact price information is not known. However, it is larger than the T-Roc and smaller than the existing Tharu, so it is expected to be priced between the two models. The T-Roc is priced at approximately $15,931 and the Tharu is priced at approximately $21,813. in China. Accordingly, the Tharu XR is likely to be priced at $16,000 to $20,000.
