The Genesis High-Performance Division Magma has been making its appearance little by little since it was unveiled at the last Beijing Auto Show. The vehicle that garnered the most attention is the GV60, the brand’s first electric SUV. From the details that have been released so far, the GV60 is being produced based on the IONIQ 5’s high-performance model, the IONIQ 5 N. It shares many of its parts and provides an even more upgraded performance.
The GV60 Magma is slated to debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. In addition to the powertrain equipped with an 89.0 kWh battery and 641 horsepower dual motors, price-related expectations and forecasts have left consumers shocked.
Base Model May Cost Over $72,134
Despite the great performance, the main focus has been its price. The price of IONIQ 5 N starts at $54,822 for the base model. The car was manufactured based on Hyundai’s electric vehicle platform E-GMP. Although it is a high-performance vehicle, it is expensive for a South Korean-made vehicle.
AutoCar predicted that the highest specification model of the Genesis GV60 Magma would reach $126,726. The price for the basic model is expected to start at around $93,775.
No Specific Information Yet, Predicted To Cost More Than IONIQ 5 N
Some think that the price will be ridiculous. However, some argued that the pricing was reasonable, saying that it is not easy to preserve the value of the premium brand while generating performance similar to or a step further from the IONIQ 5 N.
There are also claims that such price predictions are somewhat meaningless because there is little information that has been officially released and the official debut is expected soon. The price of the Genesis GV60 currently being sold starts from $46,404 to $52,968. As Magma is a high-performance division, a visible price increase seems inevitable.
Possible Controversy Due To Pricing
The Genesis GV60 Magma recently appeared again ahead of its unveiling. In a video released on the Genesis brand’s official YouTube channel, a vehicle presumed to be the GV60 Magma was captured. The appearance of the lower front bumper is more complete than what was previously unveiled, raising expectations to a higher level.
The lower air intake, which is widened like an internal combustion engine vehicle, creates a more aggressive and sleek appearance than the existing model.
Will the price of the Genesis GV60 Magma exceed $72,000 as many people expected?
