Expected design revealed
Compared to the concept car

Kia recently launched its compact electric vehicle, the EV3. While opinions are mixed regarding the pricing’s rationale, it is viewed as a significant endeavor for being an entry-level model that lowers the barrier to entry for electric cars.

There is also considerable interest in a new model that will be launched later. The EV4 is being developed as a compact electric vehicle. EV4 was first unveiled as a concept model along with EV3 in October 2023. As the EV3 mass-produced model looks almost identical to the concept car, expectations for the design of the EV4 are also growing. What will it look like?

The expected design based on this is…

According to the industry, Kia plans to mass-produce the compact electric vehicle EV4 in March 2025. EV4 is a budget electric car designed as an entry-level model along with the recently released compact electric SUV EV3. Kia produced the prototype of the EV4 in May 2024 and began driving tests on significant roads in Korea and overseas.

Accordingly, many spy shots of EV4 have also been uploaded, attracting attention. This is because creators specializing in rendering for new vehicles actively refer to spy shots to check the expected design in more detail. One of these, New York Mammoth, unveiled an expected rendering of the rear side of the EV4 on its YouTube channel.

It’s harder to find differences
Only minimal changes were made

The EV4 in the rendering looks so similar to the concept car overall that it is difficult to find any significant differences. We can see they are almost similar if we compare the body profile, proportions, and layout of each part shown in the concept car. Some notable differences include the concept car’s door handle and rear door opening/closing method, digital side mirror, and rear plate house.

These are all parts that require some changes for mass production, so we can see that efforts are being made to preserve as much detail as possible from the concept car. The triangular-shaped 3-spoke aero wheels were also applied to the previously captured prototype, so they will likely be provided as one of several options in the mass-produced model.

The front is also largely similar
Will the price be cheaper than EV3?

Although a rendering of the front side has not yet been produced, it largely adheres to the overall car design concept. Comparing it to the prototype, the design features, including the floating roof with all pillars blackened, the layout of the trapezoidal bumper’s lower part, the vertically extended tail lamps, and the star map signature DRL (daytime running lights), have been applied without significant changes.

The industry predicts that mass production of EV4 will begin in March 2024, so sales will begin in April 2024 as soon as possible. The target production is set at 70,000 units per year, which shows that Kia has high expectations for the new vehicle. The price, which largely determines whether or not to purchase, is likely to be similar to the EV3 or even cheaper.
