The Formula One Engine Supercar
Finished Development 12 Years Ago
Japan is a recognized automobile powerhouse. It has several world-class car brands and boasts a splendid history. As such, Japanese automobile manufacturers are working hard to develop high-performance models. Several models of Japan’s high-performance vehicles have become popular around the world. A representative example is the handmade Lexus supercar.
Specifically, the LFA, part of Lexus’ high-performance lineup Lexus F, is that supercar. A limited number of 500 units were sold for two years, from 2010 to 2012. The price at the time was about $360,000. It is equipped with a 10-cylinder 4.8-liter naturally aspirated engine from Yamaha Motor, which made engines for Formula One racing cars. It produced 553 horsepower at 8,700 RPM. Due to the nature of the high-revving engine, the loud engine sound was excellent. Likewise, along with Porsche’s legendary Carrera GT, which is equipped with a Formula One engine, it is often talked about as a supercar with the best engine sound.
Nissan’s High-Performance Sports Car GT-R Showcasing Japan’s Top Technology
Nissan launched a high-performance premium brand called Infiniti like any other brand, but the GT-R, released under Nissan’s name, is more famous than any other Infiniti. Returning to its beginnings, we find the Skyline GT-B, launched in 1965. Thanks to its tremendous history, splendid motorsports career, and tremendous performance, it attracted the attention of many people.
Although there was some controversy over Nissan’s brand value, interior and exterior design, quality, price, and warranty, its driving performance was sufficient to elevate it to the rank of supercar. It gained today’s reputation thanks to its ideal weight distribution and power performance achieved by separating the engine and transmission from the front and back of the cabin, respectively. The price of the vehicle is approximately $108,774, and the time it takes to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill is only about 2 seconds.
A famous car that brings back memories
Toyota’s sports car, Supra, in collaboration with BMW
If we were to choose one sports car representing Japan, it would be Toyota’s Supra. It was produced from 1978 to 2002 and then discontinued but was reborn as the GR Supra in 2019 through a collaboration with BMW. The most famous Supra model of all time has been the A80. It has been characterized by boldly breaking away from the design principle of focusing on straight lines and applying a round, streamlined style.
This is the car driven by the main character, Paul Walker, in the Fast and Furious movie series. It boasts the excellent durability of the in-line 6-cylinder engine and the ability to extract 800 to 1,000 horsepower when tuning it quickly. The 5th generation GR Supra, jointly developed with BMW, followed the previous Supra models. It uses the same platform as the BMW sports car Z4, and the factory production line is also the same. It is equipped with the Z4 M40i’s 3.0 B58 in-line 6-cylinder and records a maximum output of 340 horsepower.
