Suzuki Jimny Horizon Unveiled
Limited production of 900 units
Features a retro design
Suzuki unveiled the Jimny special edition Horizon in Germany. Suzuki plans to respond to European environmental regulations by discontinuing production of Jimny’s internal combustion engine model and releasing it only as a light commercial vehicle (LCV).
Recently, the European Union announced the Euro 7 and applied stricter emission regulations. Accordingly, automobile manufacturers in each country are busy pursuing electrification strategies, such as discontinuing existing internal combustion engine models and releasing electric models.
Body kit and accessory application
The hexagonal honeycomb grill stands out
In response, Suzuki also discontinued the Jimny’s internal combustion engine model and launched the Horizon special edition model, which was scheduled to be produced in a limited edition of 900 units in Germany. This limited edition model is equipped with an accessory package and a body kit, providing a differentiated design. It is characterized by a retro atmosphere.
In the case of the front part, a rectangular grill with Suzuki’s lettering forward was applied thinly. A hexagonal honeycomb-type pattern is applied to the inside of the grill. The simple grille pattern creates a retro impression on the front, and Jimny’s unique round headlamp harmonizes.
Skid plate added
Emphasizing off-road SUV image
The bumper has a grille that is the same shape as the top but larger in size. The sides and bottom feature a similar design theme. An aluminum-style skid plate was applied below the bumper to add detail to the design. A mud flap is applied behind the tire, which plays a functional role in preventing the penetration of foreign substances during off-road driving.
At the same time, it strengthens the image of an off-road SUV and has a stronger image than before. This special edition model is only available in medium gray color and has a black decal applied to the side. Jimny’s logo and horizontal lines are painted in black. As for the interior, it provides a loading space of 863 liters (about 30.5 cubic feet) in a two-seat configuration.
Priced at $35,000
$3,000 more expensive than before
The powertrain is the same as before. The 1.5L gasoline naturally aspirated engine is combined with a manual transmission and operates as a four-wheel drive. This achieves a maximum output of 101 horsepower and a maximum torque of 13.3 kgf.m. The Suzuki Jimny Horizon is currently being sold at some Suzuki dealerships in Germany.
This vehicle is being sold at €32,340 ($35,000). The price of the existing Jimny in the German market is €29,490 (equal to around $32,000 at current exchange rates), and the limited edition model is about $3,000 more expensive. Despite this price, the limited edition model is expected to be very popular. Meanwhile, Suzuki announced that it is developing a Jimny electric vehicle model and will launch it before 2030.
