6 Series GT ahead of discontinuation
Newly revealed mysterious rendering
What did it look like?
The recent news of the discontinuation of the BMW 6GT left many people disappointed.
This vehicle excels as a family car by utilizing the BMW 7 Series platform, which provides a non-burdensome size that fits well for family use. It also features excellent driving performance and power, blending the comfort and spaciousness expected of a family vehicle with the dynamic driving characteristics and robust engine performance typical of the 7 Series. So, it left an even more lasting impression because it was called the dream car of family customers, especially fathers.
Unlike South Korea, the 6GT was not very popular overseas, so while there was no great disappointment over the news of its discontinuation, a new look of the BMW 6GT appeared overseas, attracting attention. It has a silhouette similar to the design of the currently released 5 Series. Let’s take a closer look at what it looks like.
A 5 Series-Based Rendering Shows a Sleeker Roofline
Theottle, a specialist in overseas automobile renderings, designed this vehicle. The 6 Series GT conceptual design is based on the current 5 Series G body. BMW’s GT model had three models: the 3 Series, 5 Series, and 6 Series, which used the 3 Series and 7 Series platforms, respectively. However, the vehicle in this rendering is based on the 5 Series, so its size and design are similar to those of the 5 Series overall.
If done incorrectly, the angle of inclination at which a liftback-type vehicle falls to the roofline may look dull. In this rendering, the roofline slope has been sharpened, making it look more sophisticated than the previous model. If it actually appears, the vehicle’s body length is expected to easily exceed 5 meters (197 inches).
Low Likelihood of Actual Launch as BMW Streamlines Crossover Lineup
Other detailed elements, such as the front bumper, grill, and side cladding, have not changed significantly. Unlike the current 6GT, which is based on the 7 Series, securing interior space is expected to be somewhat tricky. Now that we’ve looked at the design let’s briefly mention the possibility of this model appearing as an actual vehicle. To conclude, the possibility is close to 0.
BMW officials have previously mentioned simplifying and reducing the crossover lineup, such as the X4 and 4 Series. Unlike in the past, vehicles called so-called niche models are unlikely to be found in the future, so the possibility of an actual launch is even lower.
Amidst Various Rumors Surrounding
Therefore, it turned out that the rumor that the 6 Series revival had appeared for a while was highly likely not to be true. Along with the news of the X4’s discontinuation, there were rumors that the 4 Series would only be produced for a certain period and that the lineup would be integrated in the future. Since BMW is suffering from numerous rumors, we cannot give a definite answer, but at least while it focuses on electrification, the possibility of various vehicles appearing is low.
