Ford Focus to be discontinued in 2025
A successor model will be launched
Why Everyone Was Surprised by the Rendering
The Ford brand discontinued its subcompact hatchback, the Fiesta, last year. It has a high reputation as a hot hatch in Europe, but unfortunately, it was discontinued, and there are no plans for a successor model. The Focus, a compact hatchback one segment higher, is also scheduled to be discontinued in 2025. Fortunately, the Focus is expected to be launched a successor model.
Digimods Design, famous for its rendering of vehicles overseas, recently released a rendering for the Focus’ successor model. The Mustang’s design has been incorporated into a hatchback and looks better than expected.
Rendering of the Ford Mustang as a hatchback
The rendering released by Digimods Design presents what appears to be a hatchback version of the Mustang. The front of the vehicle is designed to resemble the Mustang GT, featuring a bold look with a large grille, slim headlamps, and a prominently styled bumper.
At the rear, the design retains the Mustang’s signature tail lamps and bumper. Notably, adding a quad muffler and the bold bumper design contribute to a distinctly aggressive hot hatch appearance. The trunk shape has been transformed into a tailgate, enhancing the vehicle’s utility and sporty aesthetic.
A surprisingly well-fitting
Mustang hatchback version
On the other hand, in the case of the side, the existing Focus’s design is maintained. In other words, the rendering can be said to be a design that combines the Mustang and the Focus, and it appears to fit together much better than expected.
This seems to be because there is an existing example of the Mustang Mach E, an electric SUV based on the Mustang. Although they are classified as SUVs and hatchbacks, they have similar shapes and fit together quite well.
The Focus Successor Model Expected to be an EV
As mentioned above, a successor model is scheduled for the Focus after it is discontinued in 2025. Unlike the Fiesta, the Focus was surprisingly popular in the US, so it was launched as a successor model.
However, Ford plans to launch a pure EV rather than an internal combustion engine. Ford also worked hard to electrify the car by actively developing EVs, but it decided to expand its hybrid lineup while revising its electrification strategy this year. Accordingly, there is a possibility that plans for the Focus’ successor model will be changed.
