Kia’s Tasman Pickup Truck
Rendering Based on Real Vehicle Emerges
Will It Look Just Like This?
Kia introduced the Tasman, its first pickup truck model since the Brisa. Developed based on the Mohave’s body-on-frame architecture, the Tasman has generated significant anticipation following its unveiling at the 2024 Busan Mobility Show. Numerous renderings have surfaced, inspired by the various prototype vehicles already spotted.
One of these renderings stands out for its realism, capturing significant attention. We compared its details to the actual prototype to gauge the surprises Tasman might offer.
Kia’s official prototype
The features were preserved as is
Car Expert, an Australian automobile media outlet, released a rendering based on the Tasman prototype. Previously, Kia officially introduced a prototype with minimal camouflage, removing much of the film and revealing most of the vehicle’s design at the Busan Mobility Show. This prototype showcased the overall outlines, except for the color of the main exterior parts.
The rendering of the Tasman production model, as predicted by Car Expert, exudes ultimate toughness. The front end features a bold radiator grille with thick vertical fins, a tiger nose-shaped outline, and a bonnet with a tiger nose-shaped parting line, drawing significant attention. The vertical headlamp design includes the distinctive ㄱ-shaped star map signature lamp, adding a unique touch. The thick wheelhouse cladding extends from the headlamp, further enhancing the rugged appearance of the vehicle.

It looks tougher in the actual vehicle
When the rendering was produced, Kia only revealed the front side of the Tasman prototype, leaving room for imaginative interpretations in the design. The rendering shows an elongated, vertical tail lamp box similar to the Telluride, complemented by thick wheelhouse cladding that adds to the rugged appeal.
The rear bumper features stepped steps near the corners, reinforcing the image of an authentic pickup truck. The Kia emblem is embossed on the top of the cargo compartment door, with “Tasman” lettering embossed below it, enhancing its presence. However, the actual prototype vehicle suggests a more linear design with a robust rear end, emphasizing its tough and practical nature.
Official Reveal Kicks Off
Seven Teaser Videos Announced
Meanwhile, Kia began full-scale public disclosure of Tasman on July 16. “One More Round” was revealed on this day through teaser videos showing the model’s development process. Seven additional videos containing the remaining development process of Tasman will be released by this October.
Kia emphasizes that Tasman has conducted 1,777 tests, including off-road specialized performance tests such as Rock and Sand, durability tests, trailing safety tests, and Doha tests. When the first teaser video was unveiled, 18,000 cumulative tests had been conducted. Expectations are focused on whether the Tasman can become the South Korean version of Hilux, Toyota’s popular pickup truck model.
