The Chevrolet Camaro, an iconic American muscle car alongside the Ford Mustang, was discontinued in early 2024 due to a sluggish coupe market and the automotive industry’s shift towards electrification. Despite its unique design and high-performance capabilities that garnered a loyal fan base, discontinuing the Camaro was incredibly disappointing.
Responding to the fans’ reactions, GM President Mark Reuss announced plans to revive the Camaro as an electric car—not an electric crossover—focusing on athletic dynamics and affordability rather than massive horsepower and track-dominating performance. This move aligns the new Camaro with the current shift towards EVs in the automotive industry.

As speculation continues about what form the Camaro might take in its revival, there’s been talk within GM about turning the vehicle into an SUV. Of course, there is also the possibility that it will be revived as a crossover or a four-door coupe. When the news was announced, reactions from consumers were mixed.
Some say that if it is launched as an SUV in line with the trend while maintaining the aggressive design of the existing Camaro, it will be quite successful. On the other hand, quite a few opinions are that the Camaro should stick to the coupe form for its authenticity. An imaginary rendering of the Camaro, recently revived as an SUV, has emerged and is becoming a hot topic.

While the Camaro’s transformation into an SUV is still in the conceptual stage, with limited tangible prototypes or design bases, the designer’s vision is evident in its rebirth. A careful examination reveals that the essence of the traditional Camaro design persists. The front features sleek, horizontally extended headlamps.
However, the previously divided grille has been replaced with a single large hexagonal shape at the bottom, signaling a shift toward a more robust image appropriate for an SUV. This grille is adorned with a hexagonal honeycomb pattern, and black garnish that echoes the layout of the grille adds further visual appeal.

An angled air intake is placed next to the grill to maintain the atmosphere of the existing Camaro. The upper and lower parts inside the air intake are divided by a mesh-type pattern and horizontal garnish. A split front splitter is applied to both sides of the lower part. The bonnet features an angular line extending down from the center, as seen in the existing Camaro.
The side features a sleek shape with coupe-like lines, and circular cladding is applied along the wheel arches. A horizontal character line is applied above the door handle, and a sharply angled line is applied to the rear quarter panel. For the rear, the aerodynamic configuration includes a diagonally sloping rear glass and a rear spoiler protruding above the tailgate. The horizontal tail lamps were applied here to create a futuristic image for EVs.
