Toyota’s compact hybrid SUV RAV4’s full-change (redesigned) model is scheduled to be launched in 2025. However, there are also predictions that no significant changes will occur in the new RAV4. In the first half of 2024, the RAV4 accounted for a quarter of Toyota’s total sales in the US.
As the RAV4 continues to perform well in sales, Toyota is adopting a cautious approach to the new model, focusing on strategic improvements rather than radical changes. When this news was released, many consumers expressed their disappointment.
The current RAV4, which feels too angular, has a cleaner look after refining the lines
Some people say that the RAV4 design needs to be changed. Amidst this response, a virtual rendering designer recently created and released a rendering of the new RAV4, which is receiving a hot response. However, since no test car that could serve as a design clue has been captured, it seems to reflect the designer’s imagination.
If we look closely, we can see that the design of the existing RAV4 has been changed with the application of clean lines. The current RAV4, which uses a cross-octagon design and octagonal elements, appears to have been revised to reflect consumer opinions that it is too angular. At the front, the size of the upper grille has been expanded. The grille, which was previously spacious in an octagonal shape, was modified to a trapezoidal shape while slightly reducing its size.
The new design showcases sleeker headlamps and larger air intake shapes
This reduced the angles and created a cleaner look. The headlamps, integrated with the upper grille, are thinner than before, creating a sleeker feel. The air intake on the side here has increased in size and added visual elements. The outline of the air intake is in the shape of a letter ㄱ, emphasizing the angular feel.
On the side, angled cladding is applied to the fender. The character line located at the top of the door handle gets higher as it goes towards the rear and connects with the end of the tail lamp. The window belt line runs horizontally like the current RAV4 but becomes higher diagonally as it passes the rear quarter glass. As a result, the area of the rear quarter glass is narrowed.
The tail lamps connect horizontally, showcasing a sharp design
The rear quarter glass, originally triangular, was applied with a sharp, stabbing feel toward the rear. The side skirt is designed with angular ㄷ lines and volume. The tail lamps are connected horizontally for the rear, creating a difference from the existing design.
The design theme of the tail lamps extending sharply toward the rear quarter panel remains, but a square, angular detail has been added to the bottom. Diagonally extending air intakes on the side created a sporty feel. The bumper that protrudes toward the rear of the current RAV4 has a reduced degree of protrusion compared to before, reducing the excessive feeling of the previous model.
