Kia Sportage Facelift
Rendering for Interior Based on Spy Shots
Dashboard-focused changes are expected
The facelifted version of Kia’s compact SUV, the Sportage, is set to debut in the second half of 2024. Several prototypes were spotted before the launch, and some exterior designs are now visible. However, details about the interior remain scarce.
Photos of earlier prototypes show that while the steering wheel and dashboard were camouflaged, the door trim or overall interior have had no major changes. Most updates are anticipated to focus on the dashboard, which remains covered in camouflage.
New D-Cut Steering Wheel and Modified Display Shapes
Renderings of the interior have been revealed based on recent spy shots of the Sportage facelift prototype’s interior. This image was created by the YouTube channel Banggu-seok Designer (South Korean online new vehicle designer), which shows Kia’s new models’ latest interior design and layout.
Similar to the form applied to the EV6 that underwent a facelift earlier, the top and bottom of the 2 spokes are flat in a D-cut shape. Kia’s logo was placed asymmetrically, tilted to the right. Kia’s latest UI was applied for the display, the trapezoid shape was changed to a square, and the size was increased compared to the existing one.
Larger Digital Cluster
Changes to Air Vent Layout
In line with the change, the digital cluster has expanded. A 5-inch display for air conditioning control has been placed between the cluster and the center screen. The location of the air vents, which used to follow the outline of the display, has been changed to the bottom of the dashboard. This change was achieved by applying Kia’s latest interior design element, the horizontal layout.
The air vents run long and straight along the dashboard lines, and silver-colored garnish is added around them to add visual elements. The gear knob panel has been changed from the existing glossy black color to a matte color, enhancing its sophistication. The changes are centered around the dashboard, and there appear to be no significant changes to the doors and seats.
Major Changes Expected for the Exterior
Incorporating Kia’s Latest Design
No significant changes are expected for the Sportage’s interior so that most updates will be on the exterior. Kia will introduce its new Starmap Signature Lighting design, which includes vertical, box-shaped headlamps and vertical and horizontal daytime running lights.
The grille will be seamlessly integrated with the headlamps and features a bold pattern for a more striking look. The lower bumper grille will have a grid pattern and extend sharply to the sides. At the rear, the tail lamps will feature a ㄷ-shaped graphic. The amount of black high-gloss on the bumper has been reduced, and the chrome garnish has been redesigned to enhance the vehicle’s sporty appearance.
