Pickup truck growth is remarkable
Ford is preparing a new Ranger
New news has been reported recently
Pickup trucks, once a rare sight outside a few countries, are now commonly seen around the globe. As more people engage in outdoor and recreational activities, the demand for pickup trucks has naturally grown. New details have emerged about Ford’s Ranger, which, alongside the Chevrolet Colorado, is being hailed as a quintessential pickup truck.
The Ranger, which is set to be discontinued by 2030, will unveil its facelift in 2026
According to the automotive media outlet Drive, the facelifted Ford Ranger will be unveiled in 2026. Production of the current Ranger model is expected to wind down around 2029 or 2030, with the facelifted version debuting before the new F-150, the Ranger’s more advanced model.
Details on the new Ranger’s performance and specifications are still sparse. However, there is growing speculation that the next-generation facelift might adopt styling elements from the F-150. Automotive rendering specialist Theottle has even created a rendering of the Ranger inspired by the F-150’s design.
It seems to follow the F-150 style
Let’s take a closer look at the rendering
A quick look at the rendering makes an overall polished feel. Particularly striking are the front grille and headlamps. While the previous version had a slightly more curved and three-dimensional appearance, the front part seen through the rendering is somewhat flat but has an angular appearance that gives off a masculine vibe.
A Ranger with a plug-in hybrid powertrain is also scheduled for launch in 2025. After the Ranger is discontinued, it will use a body-on-frame architecture to share the same platform as the F-150.
Competing models are likely to emerge simultaneously, raising expectations even before their launch
Platform sharing is likely to enhance the performance of the upcoming Ford Ranger facelift, which is expected to benefit from these improvements. Ford aims to boost its competitiveness with these facelift models until the full redesign arrives.
In response, Toyota’s flagship pickup, the Hilux, is set to undergo a full redesign within the next two years. Similarly, Nissan is preparing to launch a new model of its rival, the Navara. This upcoming competition in the pickup truck segment is anticipated to become even more intense.
