Despite its discontinuation due to performance and profitability issues, the Kia Stinger remains a popular topic among car enthusiasts. The Stinger had strong fundamentals, including solid sports sedan performance and a sporty exterior design, but it ultimately failed to capture widespread popularity.
Kia had planned to revive the Stinger as an EV under the GT1 project. This initiative sparked excitement among consumers, especially after internal documents detailing some specifications and production schedules were leaked. However, the project was eventually canceled, leaving fans disappointed and unable to see the electric Stinger come to fruition.

The EV market has recently struggled with profitability issues and the “chasm phenomenon”—a term describing the stagnation or delay in growth that occurs when moving from early adopters to the broader market. This problem raises concerns about whether a successor to the Stinger would face similar challenges. As a result, the project was canceled, and the release of a Stinger successor remains uncertain. However, the news has spurred various renderings, giving us a glimpse of the new model.
A virtual rendering designer from abroad has created and shared a concept image of the Stinger’s successor. This design prominently features a futuristic EV aesthetic. The front of the car showcases Starmap Signature Lighting, which reflects Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy.
The star map signature lighting and angular front design
A single line of vertical and horizontal DRLs is in a T shape. The vertical DRLs are angled along the body line like arrows. The vertical DRL lights up together with the turn signal. The grille is applied horizontally and thinly, and the chrome garnish is a point. The bumper features some of the appearance of the discontinued Stinger.
The horizontal air intake that becomes sharper towards the side and the black front lip create a sporty look. A garnish with sharp ends is added to the front lip. On the side, vertical air intakes are placed, and an aggressive look is expressed through the overall angular front fascia design.
The design includes frameless doors that open in a coach door style
Details were added to the bonnet through volume, engraving, and streamlined lines. The spacious and long bonnet contrasts with the body’s low ground clearance. Frameless doors have been applied and opened for the side in a coach door style. The A-pillar has black high-gloss, and the B-pillar has been completely removed.
The fastback’s roof line continues sharply to the rear trunk, and the curved line is emphasized through the integrated rear spoiler. Tail lamps reflecting the Star Map signature have been applied for the rear. The tail lamps extend horizontally along the tailgate and are bent upwards in an A shape from the side. A D-cut steering wheel and a panoramic display along the dashboard have been applied for the interior.
