Hyundai Reveals Alcazar Facelift Design Ahead of September Launch

Hyundai has introduced a facelift for its compact SUV, the Alcazar, which will launch in September. The Alcazar, a 6—or 7-seater SUV derived from the Creta and originally tailored for the Indian market, now features an updated design with Hyundai’s latest styling elements.

This facelift reflects Hyundai’s shift towards a boxier design, as seen in the new Santa Fe. Building on the design language established with the Exter and Creta—both of which were also intended for the Indian market—the new Alcazar showcases a more angular body shape and sharper lines. Notably, some of its design features echo those of the Santa Fe.

Incorporating several distinct features

The SUV has H-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) at the front. Unlike the Santa Fe, which has vertical DRLs, the Alcazar’s DRLs consist of thin, stacked horizontal bars with an additional strip at the bottom. This design gives the lights a sleek and modern appearance, with the rectangular lamp housing extending horizontally.

At the center, Hyundai’s signature Seamless Horizon Lamp stretches across the width of the bonnet, enhancing the vehicle’s front profile and creating the impression of a wider stance, even on a compact SUV. Below the lamp, a dark chrome radiator grille is featured, flanked by vertical headlamps and trim that complements the overall design.

The front design emphasizes a tough and strong appearance, featuring a skid plate for added protection. The bumper includes wide, rectangular air intakes with a hexagonal honeycomb pattern, differing from the trapezoidal pattern on the radiator grille, adding more detail to the design. The front skid plate rises from the bottom, wrapping around the bumper to enhance the rugged look.

In addition, the side profile features black cladding, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and bridge-style roof rails. At the rear, the design mirrors the front with distinctive H-shaped tail lamps. Inside the tail lamps, a horizontal light strip stretches across, while vertical graphics are divided into four sections on the sides. The rear bumper includes aluminum trim and air intake shapes for a stylish finish.

The powertrain remains unchanged, and the Alcazar will be launched in September for developing markets

Although the interior has not yet been revealed, it is expected to have updates similar to those in the Creta, which was recently launched in the Indian market. This includes a 10.2-inch digital cluster, a panoramic display that connects with the infotainment system, and improved convenience and safety features. The 6-seater and 7-seater layouts remain the same.

The powertrain options are also carried over, with a 1.5L turbo gasoline engine producing 158 horsepower and a 1.5L diesel engine generating 113 horsepower, both paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. However, the gasoline model can be equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the diesel model offers a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission as an option. Hyundai has started taking pre-orders for the Alcazar in India and other developing markets before its September 9th launch.
