What can we expect from the design?
Although the growth of the electric vehicle (EV) market has recently slowed, the consensus remains that transitioning to electrification is not merely a matter of time but a critical necessity. The European Union (EU) has confirmed the Euro 7 automobile emission regulations, which signal a strengthening of environmental policies despite some relaxation from the original proposals due to practical considerations.
Global automakers are gearing up to shift towards electrification in response to these evolving regulations. BMW, for instance, is preparing to unveil its new EV platform, the Neue Klasse. This platform aims to set BMW’s electric models apart from their internal combustion engine counterparts. However, even before its official launch, the Neue Klasse is anticipated to face criticism from consumers due to its radical design changes.

Criticism over radical design changes
The Vision Neue Klasse concept, which is said to be the design foundation for future BMW electric cars, has been met with fierce consumer backlash. However, after the recent Neue Klasse Coupe prototype capture, the previously critical consumer response seems to have turned somewhat more optimistic. The exact name of the model has not been revealed, but the model is believed to be the spiritual successor to the now-discontinued i8 Roadster.
With many details still under wraps, speculation about the Neue Klasse has been rife. However, a recent rendering based on a captured prototype has been released, offering a glimpse into the anticipated design. American automotive media outlet Carscoops has compared the rendering and the previously captured prototype of the Neue Klasse Coupe.
Emphasizes a sleeker design for the Neue Klasse Coupe in the rendering
The front of the Neue Klasse Coupe showcases a striking shark-nose design, with a wide, sharply angled bonnet that extends forward. The bonnet’s side features bold, voluminous lines that enhance its dynamic appearance. The upper front section integrates a grille panel with the headlamps, reflecting elements seen in the Vision Neue Klasse.
A thin lighting line around the grille panel adds a futuristic touch, while the bumper’s horizontal air intake and sharp, triangular garnish highlight the sporty character. The side profile features pronounced fender lines contrasting the vehicle’s short front and rear overhangs. Additionally, the windshield adopts a distinctive shape, further accentuating the coupe’s unique design.
Expected to feature horizontally extended taillights and a streamlined interior layout
Although only a part of the rear is visible in the rendering, a black rear bumper contrasts with the body color. In the prototype captured earlier, horizontal tail lights were applied, and a design that extended to the rear quarter panel was confirmed. The interior has not been revealed, but it is expected to be a reinterpretation of the interior of the Neue Klasse concept.
For the concept car’s interior, glass is applied in a wrap-around structure that wraps around the entire body. The thinly processed A-pillar is treated with black molding to make it look like part of the glass. The horizontal character line at the bottom of the door features an angular volume, making the side look aggressive.
