Jeep’s Subcompact SUV Renegade
Set for Complete Electric Vehicle Redesign
Major Design Changes Expected
Jeep’s subcompact SUV Renegade has been in production for eight years since the launch of the first-generation model in 2014 and has undergone facelift models. However, the first facelift model was launched more than four years ago, and the second was launched only in the South American market two years ago.
Among them, Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa announced that the Jeep Renegade will be launched as a pure electric vehicle in 2027. He raised consumer expectations by revealing that he is targeting an affordable price of less than $25,000.
Changes Explored Through Concept Rendering
Vertical Slot Grille Maintained
Details about the full-change model of the Renegade are unknown. Due to the lack of prototypes or test vehicles, many speculative design changes exist. However, a virtual rendering designer overseas recently revealed the design of the new Renegade through rendering, which became a hot topic.
Some designs, such as the headlamps, were referenced from Jeep’s compact SUV Compass. The detailed design shows that the front part maintains a horizontal grille shape with seven vertical slots. The grille’s layout and detailed pattern are right-angled, emphasizing a solid appearance despite being a subcompact SUV.
Box-shaped headlamps are installed, and thick trim wraps around the bumper
The headlamps integrated with the grille are positioned in a horizontal box shape, and the ends are sharply extended toward the side. The tall bonnet is extended in a straight line and forms a right angle with the front part that falls vertically, showing a boxy body shape. The bumper is wrapped in a thick black trim.
A horizontally extended air intake is applied on the bumper’s inside. The air intake has a hexagonal honeycomb-type pattern, and a trapezoidal garnish with black high-gloss is placed on the side. On both sides of the front, fog lights and a square air intake are placed, and the black trim surrounding them is connected to the bumper trim.
The tail lamp was modified to an oval shape
The rear end emphasizes the off-road image
The glass area is narrowed for the side to emphasize the sleek feel. The window belt line is higher, while the roof line forms a curved line towards the rear. For the rear, the shape of the existing box-shaped tail lamp is applied in an oval shape. The top of the tail lamp features a graphic of a tail lamp that protrudes toward the tailgate and extends in a line shape.
The diagonally extending rear glass and the voluminous tailgate were also used to create a somewhat aggressive rear design. In the lower part, the area of black high gloss was expanded, and the thick rear diffuser reveals the image of an off-road SUV. The reflector and muffler tip are integrated and placed on the lower side.
