Bulletproof Windows, Electric Shocks, and More: Lucid Air Sapphire’s Insane New Features

newautopost Views

American luxury EV manufacturer Lucid
has introduced a high-performance model
The Sapphire, with a bulletproof version through the US military

Lucid Air Sapphire / Motor1

With 1,234 horsepower and 197.7 kg.m (1,350 lb-ft) of torque, this vehicle rockets from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 1.89 seconds. These figures alone are enough to make any car enthusiast’s pulse quicken. But imagine if this powerhouse also came with bulletproof protection—it’s as if it could withstand an apocalyptic event.

Lucid Air is an F-segment electric large sedan from the American luxury electric vehicle brand Lucid Motors. Lucid has also released a bulletproof upgraded version of the Air Sapphire, a high-performance Air model.

The vehicle can deflect bullets from any direction

The bulletproof version of the Lucid Air Sapphire is an armored EV upgraded by the US Armored Forces. It is equipped with armor made of a material ten times stronger than regular steel and five times lighter. The Lucid Air’s body is armor-like, and bulletproof windows wrap around 360 degrees of the vehicle, protecting it against bullets from any direction.

The vehicle’s network connectivity has also been enhanced with an impenetrable Internet/Wi-Fi security package that protects it from hacking attempts. While moving, a system continuously scans the surrounding area for possible threats and collects information through local police and fire scanners.

Various escort features reminiscent of sci-fi movies

If under attack, the one-touch outreach feature allows the driver to call for assistance from the US Armed Forces immediately. Of course, you can also contact the police, but Lucid’s service extends beyond fortifying your home with a bulletproof exterior. Rapid response aircraft and bodyguards are also registered. Those with a lot of money can even get fighter escorts.

Contrary to the belief that this would be enough, Lucid also prepared additional optional features for buyers who want more complete protection. Options reminiscent of a sci-fi war movie include electric shock door handles, pepper spray dispensers, concealed gun racks, toxic gas detection and protection, and grenade protection exterior.

The price exceeds $447,494
more than six times the base model’s price

The base model of the Lucid Air starts at approximately $69,884, while the high-performance Air Sapphire is priced at around $248,360. However, the armored version of the Air Sapphire, enhanced by the Armored Forces, comes with a staggering price tag of $473,598.

What sets the bulletproof Lucid Air Sapphire apart is its minimal weight increase despite the extensive armor. Even with all body parts reinforced with bulletproof materials, the vehicle’s weight only goes up by 174 kg (383.6 pounds).
