Ford’s iconic Bronco cannot be overlooked when discussing the brand’s legendary SUVs. Initially launched in 1966 and produced for 30 years until 1996, the Bronco was discontinued but has since been revived, making headlines again. Alongside the classic Bronco, renowned for its off-road capabilities, there’s also the Bronco Sport—a derivative model designed to complement its bigger sibling.

The Bronco Sport debuted in 2020 alongside the Bronco’s return. Despite its relatively brief history, it has made a notable impact, offering a unique off-road experience and exceptional driving performance that rivals the Jeep Renegade. On August 26, the Bronco Sport received its first facelift, introducing a new trim tailored specifically for off-road severe enthusiasts, which has garnered considerable attention.

Sasquatch Package is the Key
Just as Good as the Original Bronco

The off-road-specific option called the Sasquatch Package is a new specification first applied to the Bronco facelift model. This package can be selected on the upper trims, Outer Banks, and Badlands trims. Its main feature is improving off-road frequency performance using the standard specification rear differential.

Also, choosing the Sasquatch package gives you 29-inch tires with better grip. In addition, there are new steel bumpers, body protection, and tow hooks for when things get off-road. Ground clearance is increased by 0.6 inches compared to the base Bedlands trim and 1.6 inches to the standard trim.

No more blind spots
What about the newly added rally mode?

Thanks to the multiple cameras mounted on the outside of the vehicle, you can see the terrain more easily. Since the view ahead of the hill, which is difficult to see with the naked eye from the driver’s seat, is displayed on the screen, you can safely go up and down steep slopes. Also, the newly equipped Rally Mode is special. A new cooling device has been added to the hardware to remove impurities generated during off-road driving quickly.

The interior of this new vehicle is equipped with a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel as standard. The infotainment screen supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the instrument panel has a design similar to that of the Bronco Raptor.

No changes to the powertrain

For the powertrain options, the new Bronco Sport offers a choice between a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbo engine producing 184 horsepower and a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine with 248 horsepower. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Given the constraints of a compact SUV, some enthusiasts hoping for a more thrilling performance may find these options somewhat underwhelming.

Ford plans to launch the updated Bronco Sport in the U.S. market in November 2024, and the Sasquatch package will debut in the first quarter of 2025.
