Off-Road Tuning Kit Also revealed
The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is a light-duty model of the Land Cruiser 70 series, first launched in 1984. Compared to the heavy-duty model with a strong off-road orientation, it has a relatively comfortable urban SUV feel.
Initially launched as a 3-door short body, it was expanded to include a 5-door long body model in 1990. After 60 years of evolution, the Prado’s 5th-generation model debuted in 2023 and began sales in the US in early 2024.
Ahead of its official launch, the rendering showcases the emphasis on off-road imagery
The redesigned Land Cruiser Prado has embraced a more retro aesthetic than its predecessor, garnering enthusiastic consumer feedback. This renewed look has spurred a range of aftermarket products, including tuning kits. Wald International, a well-known Japanese tuning firm, has showcased its Prado tuning kit through a recent social media post.
It’s important to note that this is not an actual tuned vehicle but a virtual rendering. The image, released before the kit’s official launch, highlights bold design elements that enhance the Prado’s off-road character. The rendering has been met with positive reactions, reflecting widespread approval of the Prado’s revamped, rugged appearance.
The entire body features a black color scheme with a front skid plate added
The redesigned Land Cruiser Prado merges retro elements with contemporary touches to create a distinctive look. Drawing inspiration from the second-generation J60 Land Cruiser, the new model features a blacked-out grille, bumper, and body, while the headlamps are darkened to complement the retro theme.
Above the bonnet, a prominent hood scoop and air duct have been added, along with a complex air intake positioned near the headlamps and bumper. This design choice enhances the Prado’s high-performance appeal. The front now sports a new bumper with integrated LED lights and a silver skid plate, adding both style and functionality to the rugged exterior.
Equipped with a large roof rack and rear spoiler, off-road tires, etc.
On the side, the Prado features aftermarket wheels with off-road tires. The first variant sports six-spoke wheels and increased ground clearance to boost off-road capabilities, complemented by a thick cladding that forms an over-fender. Conversely, the second variant is equipped with alloy wheels and high-performance tires with reduced ground clearance for a sportier appearance.
The Prado also includes a large roof rack, rear spoiler, and LED lights for enhanced functionality and style. While the rear design remains under wraps, similar bumper modifications and a new rear diffuser are anticipated. Wald International has announced the forthcoming release of the tuning kit on its social media channels, with further details and the actual kit set to be unveiled soon.
