No Major Differences from Leaked Images
Let’s Explore the Performance, Features, and Changes

New Volvo XC90 / Car Confections

A leak of the facelifted Volvo XC90 caused quite a stir online. Despite the swift removal of the leaked images, they quickly spread, giving many a preview of the SUV’s updated look before its official debut.

Volvo officially revealed the second facelift of the XC90 on August 4 in Sweden. The production model closely resembles the leaked photos, but seeing it in person accentuated the XC90’s distinctive grandeur and luxury. The event allowed for a comprehensive review of the powertrain, interior updates, and design enhancements. Here’s a detailed look at what’s new.

The Drive

The Most Significant Changes Are at the Front
The Side and Rear Resemble the Previous Model

The design is as shown in the leaked image. The front grille is more extended than the existing model, a new diagonal pattern of a herringbone pattern is applied, and the bonnet’s character line is different, making it different from the previous model. Thor’s hammer DRL is maintained but creates a more sleek atmosphere like the XC60.

There is no significant change on the side, but you can see the newly applied design wheels. There is no substantial change in the rear either, but a black bezel is applied to the inside of the tail lamp, and although there is a detailed change, there is no significant difference other than that.

Larger Display Enhances Convenience
Luxurious Changes Stand Out Throughout

The interior has more changes than the exterior; the first thing that catches your eye is the center display. Instead of the existing 9.1-inch display, an 11.2-inch display is applied, and the infotainment system’s usability is expected to be more convenient. An OTA update system is also installed.

Other changes to the interior include the air vent design, wood grain interior along the door trim, and chrome decorations, creating a more luxurious atmosphere than before. The interior has a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, providing an excellent audio experience.

Only Hybrid Models Will Be Available

The powertrain will only be provided as a hybrid. Plug-in and mild hybrid systems can be selected, and the new hybrid can drive up to 799 km (497 miles) on a single charge. According to the WLTP standard, the electric mode driving range is 70 km (43 miles).

The second facelift model of the XC90 has been unveiled overseas and is currently taking orders. Production is scheduled to begin in late 2024.
