Dream Cars for Dads
Luxury Grand Tourers
Which Three Models Are Especially Popular?
A grand tourer (GT) is a luxury, high-performance sports car for long-distance driving. Unlike regular pure sports cars, it often has a body that maximizes driver convenience by installing 2+2 seats.
Typically, grand tourers adopt a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. This configuration offers a smoother and more refined driving experience than the mid-engine setup common in supercars, which can transmit more engine noise and vibration to the cabin.
Three iconic grand tourers symbolize the pinnacle of luxury and performance and are often seen as dream cars for enthusiasts.
Bentley Continental GT
Offers Two Powertrains
Bentley’s Continental GT has a luxurious cabin and suspension tuning that is perfect for long-distance driving and provides comfort to the driver. The 2024 model has been improved, and the Azure trim has new 22-inch wheels. The Speed trim features design points such as dark gray exterior details and aluminum grille trim.
For the Continental GT, there are two powertrains to choose from: a 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 542 horsepower and a 6.0-liter W12 engine that produces 626 horsepower. In particular, the W12 engine in the Speed trim is tuned to produce 650 horsepower and is estimated to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.1 seconds.
Aston Martin’s DBS Superleggera
Safety that is unwavering even during acceleration
Aston Martin’s DBS Superleggera is a car known for its excellent ride quality, even on rough pavement. The generous wheelbase holds up well even under extreme acceleration, and the air duct located at the end of the side window passes over the rear wheel and quickly blows air out of the rear spoiler.
The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera has a twin-turbocharged 5.2-liter V12 engine that produces 715 horsepower and 91.8 kgf.m of torque and drives the body to the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. It accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.7 seconds, and the top speed is a whopping 340 km/h (211 mph). For long-distance driving, heated and memory-equipped sports seats are standard, and the cabin can be styled with several trim types, including open-pore ash wood, carbon fiber, or satin-finish chrome.
Ferrari Roma with high-level design
612 horsepower and 77 kgf.m of torque
Ferrari’s Roma is its second V8 front-engined coupé, following the now-discontinued GTC4 Lusso T. The Roma’s styling is refined, with a clean form that perfectly reinterprets the classic lines of the Ferrari GT. The interior features a blend of high-quality materials and a unique layout, with a 16-inch fully digital gauge cluster that can be adjusted via haptic controls on the steering wheel.
This vehicle has a 3.9-liter V8 engine that can generate 612 horsepower and 77 kgf.m of torque. The 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission equipped on the Roma model can shift gears quickly, especially when the drive mode is set to Sport or Race.
