What will happen if Cadillac’s full-size SUV, the Escalade, is again launched as a pickup truck model? The American luxury brand Cadillac recently unveiled a facelift model of its flagship full-size SUV, the Escalade. It is characterized by a design that seems to share design elements of Cadillac’s latest electric vehicles, such as the Lyriq and Escalade IQ, and a stronger futuristic atmosphere.
While consumer reactions to Cadillac’s latest design direction are mixed, a uniquely shaped Escalade variant has recently been revealed and is a hot topic. It is the Escalade Pickup Truck, a virtual rendering of the model, not an actual vehicle.
Escalade EXT launched in 2001

Cadillac has previously ventured into the pickup truck segment with models based on the Escalade. The Escalade EXT, a pickup variant, was introduced alongside the second-generation Escalade in 2001. This model retained the distinctive front design of the Escalade while extending the cargo area behind the C pillar, effectively transforming it into a pickup truck.
However, the Escalade EXT had a brief lifespan, lasting only through two generations. Although the EXT reached a third-generation model, it was discontinued after introducing the fourth-generation Escalade in 2013. The Escalade EXT was on the market for approximately 12 years, from 2001 to 2013, before it faded from Cadillac’s lineup.
The timing coincided with the US economic recession, so there was no demand for luxury pickup trucks
When it was released, the Escalade EXT caused a lot of buzz, but the luxury pickup truck market shrank rapidly due to the economic recession in the US at the time. Since pickup trucks have a strong image of being practical, they focused on being sturdy, cheap, and able to carry a lot of cargo, and the Escalade EXT’s position also quickly shrank.
Although the Escalade pickup truck is not available for purchase, the recent decline in demand for sedans and the resurgence of pickup trucks and SUVs have increased the need for various pickup trucks. Many consumers want a practical pickup truck for off-road driving, towing, and cargo space while having various advanced high-end features and a luxurious exterior design.

Accordingly, as demand for luxury pickup trucks increases once again, the rendering of this Escalade pickup truck has become a hot topic, drawing attention from American consumers. Like the previously launched Escalade EXT, the front design is identical to the regular Escalade. Matte black has been applied to the Cadillac’s signature crest grille, and horizontal turn signals are placed at the top.
The bottom is equipped with vertical box-shaped headlamps. However, in the case of the headlamp layout, it is greatly curved inward to provide a sense of volume, and black-colored garnish is added to give it detail. Dotted-line daytime running lights are placed inside the headlamps. A wide trapezoidal air intake is placed at the bottom of the bumper. The boxy vehicle form is created with a bonnet line that extends considerably while providing a sense of volume, a soaring A-pillar, and a roofline that maintains a sense of height, securing interior space. The body is cut behind the C-pillar, and a cargo box is connected. It seems that the ground clearance has also been increased through suspension adjustment.
