The Lincoln Mark Rises Again with Rendering
Launched through seven generations until 1998
After 26 years, it makes a comeback
As consumer demand for sedans continues to drop, the automotive market is shifting its focus. Even Lincoln, long known for its reputation as a premium car brand, is stepping away from its traditional sedans. Models like the iconic Continental are being phased out, with the company now concentrating on its SUV lineup, including the Corsair, Nautilus, Aviator, and Navigator.
However, as sedans fade from the spotlight, there’s renewed interest in the classic models that helped establish Lincoln’s legacy. Among them is the large coupe from the Mark series, which was discontinued after its seventh generation in 1998. Recently, a rendering of the Lincoln Mark series has surfaced, capturing attention and sparking discussions about its possible return.

Applying a future-oriented design
This is the Mark IX, revealed by an overseas virtual rendering designer. It is a rendering of the 8th generation Mark, which succeeded the 7th generation Mark VIII. As it was shown as a rendering after 26 years, there have been significant changes in the design. The front features thin daytime running lights in the form of lines that seem to refer to the design of the recently revealed Aviator facelift version.
However, the DRL has been changed to extend horizontally along the layout of the top and bottom of the grille, and the Lincoln logo in the center also lights up. Vertical headlamps have been placed on both sides of the grille. The interior of the wide and rectangular grille has a vertical, dense pattern, continuing the design of the previously discontinued 7th generation mark.
It features a boxy front shape and a sleek roofline
The bumper is composed of a three-dimensional sense through volume, and a thin air intake is placed. While most design elements focus on the grill, the bumper has a clean image by unifying the components. The front part that falls almost vertically and the bonnet that maintains the height create a boxy shape reminiscent of the angular body of the past Mark series.
The side’s roof line was designed to be sharper, emphasizing the coupe line. In addition, the hidden-type door handle was applied to give a futuristic feel. The window belt line was changed to be higher, reducing the side glass area and making it look sharp. However, the rear glass is the same as the previous mark in a triangular shape.

As a large coupe, it features a long side length, and the horizontal chrome garnish placed near the side skirt emphasizes this. In addition, the short overhangs at the front and rear provide a contrast. It also features a circular line engraved near the fender and new wheels with a futuristic feel.
Unfortunately, the rearview has not been revealed, but the discontinued 7th generation Mark was equipped with horizontal tail lamps. Accordingly, the rear is expected to be composed of thin lamp lines that emphasize a futuristic feel, and the designer also created a similar look in the previous Lincoln Town Car rendering. Although the Lincoln Mark series is unlikely to be revived, the newly revealed appearance is receiving favorable consumer reviews.
