Renault Group Unveils All-Electric Van
Inspired by the 1959 Estafette
Retro Design of the Electric Van
The Renault Group has introduced its all-electric Estafette concept van at the IAA Transportation 2024, the world’s largest commercial vehicle show. This marks the first model from Flexis SAS, a joint venture between Renault, Volvo, and CMA CGM, aimed at creating an eco-friendly urban commercial vehicle with zero exhaust emissions.
The Estafette pays homage to the classic Renault van launched in 1959. It features a retro-inspired design reimagined for the modern era. Built on an electric modular skateboard platform, the design maximizes interior space for cargo.

Easy access from the loading area
Renault plans to develop a production version of the concept within two years, targeting a market launch in 2026. The Estafette will be the first vehicle from Renault Group to utilize the SDV architecture, with updates and new services delivered via cloud technology. It promises a 30% reduction in operating costs.
In terms of dimensions, the van measures 4,870 mm (191.7 inches) in length, 1,920 mm (75.6 inches) in width, and 2,590 mm (102.0 inches) in height, allowing the driver to stand comfortably in the cargo area. The design includes sliding side doors and a shutter-style rear tailgate for easy access.

Wraparound front glass
Inspired by the 1959 Estafette, the exterior features round headlamps and a distinctive panel grille that flows smoothly into the body. The boxy shape is enhanced by a nearly vertical front fascia and a wraparound windshield, maximizing interior space while offering a loading capacity comparable to larger vans like the Traffic. Box-shaped tail lights and arrow-shaped graphics further contribute to its retro appeal.
Bold Yellow Accents and Unique Interior Design
Inside, the Estafette showcases a vibrant yellow theme with an angular dashboard. A 7-inch digital cluster and a 12-inch touchscreen in the center interact seamlessly, allowing for various software applications. The dashboard features customizable widgets for easy access to preferred apps.
Each door is equipped with 10-inch vertical screens to replace traditional side mirrors. The cargo space is designed for practicality, offering direct access from the driver’s seat and four foldable shelves for enhanced utility. While specific powertrain details have yet to be revealed, the configuration is expected to focus on efficiency in urban settings.
