The Tesla Model X, the automaker’s high-performance premium electric SUV, was first introduced in 2015 and has since undergone only a single refresh. While this refresh included some updates to the interior and minor exterior tweaks, many enthusiasts were left wanting a more significant redesign. However, recent developments suggest that Tesla may consider a more extensive update for the Model X.
Recent leaks of the redesigned Model Y have heightened expectations for changes to the Model X, prompting a wave of speculation among fans and industry observers alike. A rendering showcasing a potential new design for the Model X has surfaced, generating considerable interest and discussion.

Headlights have been streamlined
An overseas virtual designer has crafted a rendering of the upcoming Model X, which, while purely speculative, highlights some striking changes compared to the current model. One of the most noticeable alterations is in the headlight design; the new Model X features slimmer headlights that echo the aesthetics of the recently refreshed Model 3.
Horizontal daytime running lights complement the upper portion of the headlights, while the hood has been elongated for a sleeker profile. Additionally, the grille appears larger and more elongated, extending toward the headlights, with a garnish separating the upper and lower sections, further enhancing the vehicle’s front-end character.
The size of the air intake has been enlarged, emphasizing a sportier look
The rendering also indicates a more aggressive stance, particularly in the bumper design. While the trapezoidal air intake remains, the side intakes have been enlarged, lending a sportier edge to the front fascia. Angular lines have been introduced to reinforce this sporty appearance, and a black line runs from the bumper along the side skirt.
The roof design features a two-tone finish, with certain sections in black that contrast with the body color. However, the overall side profile maintains many elements from the existing Model X, including a window line that rises slightly toward the rear, a prominent horizontal character line, and a sharply descending roofline.

The updates at the rear are more subdued. The roofline meets the rear glass in a more pronounced curve, complemented by a new rear spoiler partially covering the upper glass area. While the existing spoiler remains intact above the tailgate, the tail lamp design retains its sharp appearance, flanking a rear diffuser and horizontal reflectors.
Despite the growing demand for a refreshed Model X, reports indicate that Tesla is currently prioritizing production efforts to address the backlog of Cybertruck orders. The company also focuses on the upcoming robotaxi initiative, which will be unveiled in October. Tesla plans to launch the Model Y Juniper facelift following these developments in the first quarter of 2025.
