Incidents in the US
A Ford Mustang that fell into a canal
Is the owner missing?
Would you believe that a muscle car, a Mustang model, was locked at the bottom of a calm lake? Car accidents happen all over the world. Of course, most of them are common accidents, but sometimes strange accidents happen. These strange accidents become a topic of conversation not only in the region but also around the world.
Recently, it was reported that a vehicle was pulled from a canal in Florida, US. This accident became quite a hot topic, to the point that it was reported by the automobile news outlet Carscoops. Let’s take a look at the details of the accident.
The recovered vehicle was a Ford Mustang of the sixth generation
The Palm Beach County Fire Rescue in Florida discovered a sixth-generation Ford Mustang flipped upside down in a canal. The vehicle was successfully retrieved, with its door left open. Initially, concerns arose regarding a potential suicide, prompting authorities to deploy professional divers for a search. However, no evidence of a driver was found. Florida police later confirmed that the driver had managed to escape the car before it became fully submerged, although the vehicle itself has not been accounted for since.
Upon inspection, the Mustang showed signs of water ingress, alongside damage to the rear bumper and a deployed airbag. Notably, the rest of the vehicle remained largely intact. These findings suggest that the car may have veered sharply and struck an object, causing the rear bumper damage before it plunged into the canal.
A popular spot among vehicle enthusiasts
Residents suspect the driver’s mistake caused the vehicle to end up in the canal. The area near the canal is often visited by vehicle enthusiasts who come to make donuts. Since there are many vehicle enthusiasts, they believe there is a high possibility that the vehicle enthusiasts drove recklessly or lost control during an impromptu race, causing the accident.
The Florida Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident and says the driver escaped. Still, there is plenty of evidence, including the license plate number, so they are not likely to have any trouble finding the driver. A few months before the incident, a Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet was found stranded in another Florida canal, and the driver also escaped but never went to claim the vehicle.
The sixth-generation Ford Mustang was offered in a price range of $23,800 to $32,300, making it an appealing option for sports car buyers. Production continued until the end of 2023, establishing a significant presence in the market.
