The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
A full-size pickup priced around $37,000
Some standardized specifications catch the attention
South Korea’s unique road conditions and consumption patterns have resulted in a limited selection of pickup trucks, with KGM’s Rexton Sports series leading the market. In July, Chevrolet introduced a fully redesigned Colorado mid-size pickup truck, generating expectations for increased demand in Korea.
In contrast, the United States boasts a significantly larger pickup truck market, characterized by intense competition, especially among full-size models. This competitive landscape has prompted aggressive pricing strategies, making the price level set by Chevrolet for the recently launched 2025 Silverado 1500 particularly noteworthy. The Silverado’s pricing will likely influence consumer choices in a market where value for money is paramount.
Compared to competing models, it’s affordable and has gained significant popularity in the US
Chevrolet has announced that the starting price for the 2025 Silverado 1500 is $37,000, excluding destination fees. This represents a modest increase of approximately $200 from the previous price of $36,800. Despite the rise, the Silverado remains an attractive option within the $30,000 range, especially compared to other full-size pickup trucks in the North American market.
The Silverado is positioned as one of the most affordable options among its competitors. For instance, the Ford F-150 starts at $46,005, while the Ram 1500 begins at $42,270. Together with the Silverado, these three models dominate the US full-size pickup truck segment. The Toyota Tundra is also priced at $42,035, further emphasizing the Silverado’s competitive pricing strategy in a crowded market.
With new exterior colors and an added 20-inch wheel option
In addition to the slight price increase, the 2025 Silverado 1500 features several notable changes that enhance its appeal. New exterior color options, including Cypress Gray and Riptide Blue, have been introduced, along with updated 20-inch wheels available in a black finish. Additionally, some specifications previously exclusive to higher trims have been extended to lower trims, increasing accessibility for buyers.
The WT trim now includes cruise control, while a trailer brake controller has been added for trims above the LT level. The ZR2 trim, designed for off-road enthusiasts, has a premium audio system and front and rear parking assist functions. Despite these updates, the powertrain options remain unchanged from previous models.
A variety of powertrain options offer an excellent towing capacity
The 2025 Silverado 1500 comes standard with a robust 2.7L 4-cylinder gasoline turbo engine, delivering a maximum output of 310 horsepower and 59.3 kgf.m of torque. Buyers can also opt for more powerful options, including 5.3L and 6.2L V8 engines, producing 355 and 420 horsepower, respectively. A 3.0L inline 6-cylinder diesel turbo engine is available for those seeking a diesel powertrain, generating 305 horsepower and 68.3 kgf.m of torque.
This diverse range of powertrain configurations allows for greater consumer choice, catering to various driving needs and preferences. Despite its substantial size, the Silverado is well-regarded among American consumers for its agile handling, impressive braking performance, and overall stability. The 6.2L V8 engine, in particular, boasts a remarkable towing capacity of up to 6,032 kg (13,300 pounds). Starting from the LT trim, the Silverado also features a modernized interior with a 12.3-inch digital cluster and a 13.4-inch center display, enhancing the driving experience.
