The Lincoln Continental, an iconic name in American automotive history, sparks excitement again. After an impressive 80-year run across 10 generations since its debut in 1939, the Continental was discontinued for the second time in 2020, marking the end of an era. However, a newly released rendering reimagines the Continental as a bold 4-door convertible, reigniting interest in the storied sedan.
The revived Lincoln Continental, which came back in 2016, earned praise for its blend of modern luxury and nods to its historic design. Despite this, the sedan’s sales slumped in the U.S. due to shifting market preferences, leading to its discontinuation. After a brief stint in China, production ceased completely in 2023, but many enthusiasts still long for its return. Now, with Ford shifting its focus to iconic models like the Mustang, fans are wondering if the Continental will ever be revived in a new form.
A large chrome grill is applied, and the grill pattern design has changed
Since Ford announced that they would “try to focus future attention on iconic models like the Mustang rather than boring models,” the Continental’s whereabouts are once again in the spotlight. Among them, a rendering that revived the Continental as a 4-door convertible has recently been released and is gaining attention. Since it has been 8 years since the release of the 10th generation model, the design of the Continental in the rendering has also changed significantly.
If you look closely, the large square chrome grille remains the same, representing the Lincoln brand identity. However, the existing pattern symbolizing the Lincoln logo has been changed to a diagonal pattern connecting parabolas. The design that enhances the sense of luxury by applying thick chrome garnish along the grille’s layout has also been used as is.
Air intake changed to a sleeker design

The horizontal headlamps have become thinner while maintaining the existing design. In addition, volume has been added to the body panel connecting the grille and the headlamps to make the front look three-dimensional. The air intake located on the bumper has been changed to a sharp line shape, and the existing three-part form has been modified to become one.
As it has been transformed into a convertible, the top of the front glass does not have a roof. The end of the glass is finished with the body panel, revealing the interior. As expected of a large sedan, it has a long side ratio, and the hidden-type door handle emphasizes this. In the case of the side skirt, the luxurious image stands out with the chrome line applied.

For the rear, we looked at another rendering of the Continental created by the designer. First, the taillights are applied in a line-like form similar to the front and are connected horizontally, giving a futuristic feel. The chrome line from the side skirts is also applied to the lower bumper in the rendering.
Meanwhile, the rendering that reinterprets the luxurious Continental in a modern way is receiving favorable reviews from netizens. It is evaluated as a good harmony of a large sedan’s weightiness and a convertible’s sportiness. Accordingly, many regret Lincoln’s recent move to focus only on SUV models such as the Corsair, Nautilus, Navigator, and Aviator.
