Porsche Unveils Minivan Model
Features Electric Sliding Doors
Surprise Over Vehicle Identity
Minivans are typically celebrated for their roomy interiors and practicality, making them popular for families, cargo transport, and even taxis. However, due to their boxy shape and larger size, they usually lack the sporty driving dynamics that enthusiasts crave.
For this reason, the luxury minivan market focusing on high-end specifications is steadily growing, but it is difficult to find a sporty minivan. Nevertheless, there is considerable demand from many consumers who want the convenience, excellent driving performance, and sporty sensibility of a minivan. Among these, the Porsche minivan has appeared and is becoming a hot topic among consumers.
Mark Zuckerberg Customized a Cayenne Turbo GT for His Wife
The newly revealed Porsche minivan is unlike anything we’ve seen from the brand before. Its extended wheelbase and second-row electric sliding doors offer a blend of practicality and Porsche’s signature performance. The biggest twist? This vehicle isn’t part of Porsche’s standard lineup—it was custom-built as a gift from Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg to his wife, Priscilla Chan.
According to Zuckerberg, his wife had mentioned wanting a minivan, so he teamed up with Porsche designers and West Coast Customs, a well-known luxury car customizer based in Southern California, to transform a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT into the ultimate family vehicle.
The extended wheelbase has increased the interior space
The vehicle retains much of the Cayenne Turbo GT’s SUV styling from the outside but with an elongated wheelbase to provide more interior room. While the interior details haven’t been fully disclosed, it’s speculated that a third row may have been added. A video posted by Zuckerberg shows off one key feature: electric sliding doors on the second row, making getting in and out of the vehicle much easier—a rarity for Porsche and a nod to the practical side of minivan design.
Zuckerberg also showed off his wealth by taking a picture of the Porsche GT3 Touring he bought together. The Porsche GT3 Touring alone costs $180,000, while the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is sold for about $200,000. Converting it into a minivan is expected to incur additional costs.
Zuckerberg’s wealth is estimated at $187 billion
He usually drives a CT5-V Blackwing
Zuckerberg’s Porsche purchase isn’t surprising, given his massive fortune. As of April 2024, Bloomberg estimated his net worth at $187 billion. His wealth surged by $5.65 billion in a single day earlier this year, thanks to Meta’s soaring stock prices. Known for his passion for cars, Zuckerberg usually drives a Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, a high-performance super sedan that’s a far cry from a family minivan.
