Tesla Model Y Juniper
Production Schedule Finally Revealed
But in China Again?
The Tesla Model Y remains the best-selling SUV worldwide, thanks to its high efficiency, Tesla’s brand reputation, and the enduring appeal of the SUV segment. As excitement builds for the upcoming facelift model, known as Juniper, rumors and information about its expected updates and release have been circulating.
According to recent reports, Tesla has started producing a limited number of Model Y Juniper units in China. Here’s a closer look at what we know about this highly anticipated refresh.
Production is Limited to 12 Units per Day
Likely Test Vehicles
According to Electrek, the Tesla Model Y Juniper has been in production since Tuesday. However, it was reported undisclosed that this is not a full-scale mass production and that daily production will be limited to 12 units.
The production plant is likely to be Tesla Gigafactory in Shanghai, China, and it was revealed that production will proceed with strict restrictions on local factory workers. The Model Y Juniper has already been captured in China, but whether it will significantly differ from the leaked image is unknown.
Rumors of Full-Scale Production in November
Expected Launch Late This Year or Early Next Year
As previously mentioned, the latest Tesla production news focuses on test vehicle production rather than full-scale mass production. Since Tesla has stated that there will be no more new vehicle releases and launches this year, Tesla’s latest vehicle launch will likely be postponed to next year rather than this year.
The most likely launch date is said to be January 2025, but some overseas media outlets have reported that full-scale mass production will begin around the end of November. If the November production is true, the actual launch is likely to be narrowed to between the end of 2024 and January 2025.
Improved Battery, Addition of 3-Row Model
Will It Maintain Its No.1 Global Sales Position?
Meanwhile, the refreshed Tesla Model Y Juniper is likely to be equipped with an improved 95 kWh capacity battery pack, a front end similar to the Model 3 Highland, and a straight tail light design similar to the Cybertruck.
In addition to the potential design upgrades, the Juniper model will likely offer an optional third-row seating configuration, building on the current 7-seater option in the Model Y lineup. This would further enhance its product competitiveness and appeal among families and larger groups.
