Toyota’s Full-Size Minivan Sienna
Causes a Stir with Stretched Limousine Tuning
Luxurious Interior Draws Admiration
Minivans are often valued for their roomy interiors, making them a top choice for families. Their efficient use of space and smooth rides are ideal for various needs. But what if these spacious vehicles took on the extended luxury of a limousine? A minivan’s tall, box-like shape could provide an exceptionally comfortable setting when expanded to limousine proportions.
Toyota explored this idea with flair at the annual SEMA Show, the world’s largest tuning exhibition in Las Vegas. This year’s show is set to open on November 6, but the buzz has already sparked memories of Toyota’s past minivan limousine concept, showcased at SEMA in 2010. Revisited by fans, this standout concept pushed the boundaries of what a minivan could be, capturing imaginations with its unique blend of family-friendly design and luxurious, stretched styling.
Balancing Family Convenience and Style
Body Length Exceeds 20.3 feet (6.2m)
Toyota unveiled the Sienna Swagger Wagon Supreme, a minivan with a “luxury limousine” concept, at the 2010 SEMA Show. The Sienna, launched in 1997, is mainly sold in the US market. It is a full-size minivan with a length of 5 m(16.4 feet) and a width of nearly 2 m(6.6 feet), and is larger than the Alphard and Vellfire. The Sienna Swagger Wagon Supreme is based on the third-generation model.
It has an unusual appearance, but it is said that it was created to be a vehicle that does not sacrifice either family convenience or individual expression. The biggest feature is the longer body. It has been extended by a whopping 1,219 mm(48.0 inches), which is more than 6.2 m(20.3 feet) in length compared to the standard specification (5,085 mm (200.2 inches)). In addition, it has a blue metallic color, KMC 20-inch wheels, wide tires, and a rear spoiler. The door handles on the sliding doors have been removed to show off a smooth side. The air suspension can adjust the ground clearance between 64 and 165 mm(2.5 and 6.5 inches).
Interior as Comfortable as a Living Room
Massage Seats and Refrigerator Included
The interior is as spacious and luxurious as the exterior. The roof is equipped with a special 8-foot (approximately 2,438 mm) acrylic roof, allowing the entire interior to be filled with natural light. The passenger capacity is 7 as per the original specifications, but it can be used more spaciously as the body has been extended. The 2nd and 3rd rows have rotating independent captain seats.
Drivers can use the multi-function massage function in that seat. The luxurious cabinet finished with Brazilian cherry wood catches the eye. The refrigerator with transparent glass provides ample space. The floor is also finished with wood so that you can feel the comfort of a living room. There are also things to enjoy while moving so you won’t get bored.
Gaming Console and High-Power Audio System
A Toyota Creation, Not a Tuning Company’s
When the captain’s seat is rotated, a 23-inch HP computer, DVD player, Xbox 360 game console, etc., can be used. The JBL audio system boasts 1,700W of output and comprises 10 speakers, 2 subwoofers, and 4 amplifiers. In addition, the wide tires of 245/45R20 in the front and 255/40R20 in the rear and the dual twin muffler tips add to the stylish appearance.
In terms of powertrain, the original 3.5L V6 gasoline engine and 6-speed automatic transmission combination was maintained. Of course, it was not a vehicle made to be sold on the market, but, surprisingly, it was made directly by Toyota North America, not a tuning company. What kind of vehicle Toyota will attract the audience’s attention at this year’s SEMA Show remains to be seen.
