Jaguar’s Iconic E-Type Model
Recently Recreated Two Units
Features, Price, and Behind-the-Scenes
Jaguar has been making cars with a classic style and a unique British design. However, its meaning, recognition, and technology are far behind those of the past. In particular, the current situation where most of its vehicles are being discontinued and on the path to full electrification is a stark contrast to its past glory.
However, it is said that a vehicle that will restore Jaguar’s past reputation has recently appeared overseas. This is because Jaguar’s E-type, considered the most beautiful vehicle in the world, was reborn after about 50 years.
Newly Manufactured After 50 Years
New Manual Transmission Applied
Jaguar Classic, which specializes in restoring classic Jaguar cars, announced that it has produced two E-Types upon order from VIP customers in Southeast Asia. In 2021, Jaguar also completely restored and released the original E-Type model. Still, the two vehicles produced this time are significant because they were newly produced about 50 years after production was discontinued.
It was revealed that each vehicle took approximately 2,000 hours to build. Unlike the previous model, it has a new 5-speed manual transmission. However, the engine is the same 3.8-liter inline 6-cylinder gasoline engine installed in the original vehicle, reproducing the performance of the time.
Decorated with British Jewelry
Price Likely Exceeds $400,000
For the interior and exterior, decorations from the jewelry brand Deakin & Francis, which has over 200 years of history, were applied throughout, adding luxury and exclusivity. Although it looks like an old car over 50, it is conveniently equipped with Bluetooth audio.
The specific price of the newly produced Jaguar E-Type has not been announced. However, judging from the cost of the restored E-Type model released last time, which was approximately $400,000, the model sold this time is expected to be similar or higher.
Jaguar E-Type: A Icon in the 1960s
Enthusiasts Cheer Its Return
Meanwhile, the original model of the E-Type, which can be said to be Jaguar’s most iconic model, was a sports car first released in 1961 and sold until 1975. Despite its period, it was a vehicle with overwhelming production volume and popularity, producing approximately 72,500 units.
There were two types of models: a roadster without a roof and a hardtop coupe, and the vehicle performance was also excellent. The rebirth of the E-type produced at this time is receiving a lot of attention, and it seems that many people are still looking forward to Jaguar’s revival.
