The Kia Stinger, a performance-oriented grand tourer, was discontinued in 2023 with the end of its gasoline-powered production. Known for its sleek 5-door fastback design and rear-wheel drive, the Stinger earned praise for offering a driving experience comparable to imported sports sedans. However, its high price point and declining demand for sedans limited its market appeal, leading to its discontinuation.

Yet, fans of the model may have reason to hope. Kia’s CEO, Song Ho-sung, recently hinted that the company is considering developing a fully electrified version of the Stinger, sparking excitement about a potential revival of the performance sedan.

A Fresh Design Concept: Sportiness Meets Electric Innovation

While it’s unclear whether Kia’s plans involve reviving the canceled GT1 project or creating an entirely new Stinger, anticipation is building. A concept rendering of a revived Stinger has surfaced, capturing attention with its bold design.

The rendering reveals a revamped front end featuring a thinner, more horizontal version of Kia’s signature “tiger nose” grille, a nod to its electric underpinnings. The sharp, horizontal headlights stretch from the grille to the front fender, giving the car an aggressive, futuristic look. This sleek redesign aligns with the sportiness that made the original Stinger a standout.

Enhanced Aerodynamics and Sporty Details

The Stinger’s design retains familiar elements, including sleek air intakes and a front lip that emphasize the car’s performance pedigree. Vertical air intakes on the sides of the bumper and angular lines in the center air intake add to the car’s sharp, aggressive aesthetic. A streamlined front end with smooth curves hints at improved aerodynamics, while the long bonnet and rear-wheel-drive proportions emphasize its grand tourer DNA.

The fastback roofline, a signature of the original Stinger, is carried over in this concept, flowing seamlessly into the trunk lid and reinforcing the car’s sporty silhouette. The side view showcases dynamic proportions with a narrow window line, a high beltline, and sleek chrome garnish for a touch of luxury.

A Sporty and Luxurious Rear Design

At the rear, the Stinger concept borrows design cues from Kia’s electric crossover, the EV6. The slim, connected taillights are accentuated by black high-gloss trim, giving the rear a clean, futuristic feel. The rear bumper features horizontal reflectors and additional black high-gloss materials to enhance the sporty look.

With its low stance, short overhangs, and sleek profile, the Stinger concept rendering envisions a car that blends sportiness with the cutting-edge design language of Kia’s latest models. If brought to production, the electric Stinger could offer a unique combination of performance and innovation, reigniting interest in Kia’s performance sedan lineup.
