Celebrating 25 Years of Hybrid Technology
Honda Unveils the Civic e:HEV
What Sets It Apart from the Standard Model?
The Honda Civic is a front-wheel-drive, compact vehicle that first appeared in 1972. Because of its reasonable size and price, it is often sold as a first vehicle for consumers in brisk markets such as North America and Japan.
Models are often released to commemorate special events that befit a long history. Honda recently unveiled a new Honda e:HEV vehicle to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its hybrid system. It may not look much different from the previous one, but this vehicle is said to have a surprising secret hidden in it.
A Civic Like No Other: Silverist Silver Paint by Stuart Semple
Based on Honda’s 11th-generation Civic e:HEV, this car looks similar to a regular silver Civic, but it feels a little different. It is not painted as usual but is said to have been finished with real silver. Perhaps because of this, it has a more glossy look than other colors.
This vehicle was created by the famous British artist Stuart Semple. Semple developed and released works that create deeper depths in existing colors. This time, the color created is “Silverist Silver,” the closest color to silver among silver colors.
Hybrid Power Remains at the Core
To create this color, 64% pure silver particles were actually mixed with special acrylic. It is also surprising that the vehicle was painted with multiple layers of protective coating. Honda expressed their admiration, saying this is the first time such a luxurious silver color has been painted on a vehicle.
As briefly mentioned earlier, this model was created to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Honda’s hybrid system. In the case of the Civic e:HEV, it was newly launched in 2022. In particular, the model launched in the Japanese market improved its product quality through a partial change (facelift) model early this year. It is driven by a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, an electric motor, and a battery, showing high efficiency.
Expanding Honda’s Hybrid Lineup: Prelude Returns
While the Civic e:HEV takes center stage, Honda is expanding its hybrid lineup globally. In Europe, Honda now offers a hybrid-only selection, including the Jazz, HR-V, ZR-V, and CR-V, as the brand positions its advanced hybrid powertrains as a powerful alternative to electric vehicles.
Honda has also announced plans to reintroduce the Prelude, its iconic two-door sports coupe, with a hybrid powertrain. This revived Prelude is expected to deliver a thrilling yet efficient driving experience with a sleek, futuristic design.
