The Honda brand has revealed its subcompact sedan’s exterior and interior sketches, the Amaze. Honda first launched the Amaze in 2012, followed by the second-generation model in 2018, and plans to launch the third-generation model in 2025. The new Amaze was designed at Honda’s R&D Asia Pacific Center in Thailand.
It is designed to give a luxurious feel despite being a subcompact sedan. Although it is still in the sketch stage, it has shed the rough exterior of the current model. In the case of the current model, a design with a wide rectangular grille and thick lamps with sharp ends has been applied.
Thinner headlamp shape
Wider radiator grille
In this new model, the headlamps have been changed to thinner, and the daytime running lights are arranged along the top, which adds to the sophistication. The design with sharp ends continues in the new model. The grille, arranged so that the headlamps and the ends meet, is expected to be larger than the current model. According to the sketch, the radiator grille has been confirmed to have an area that has been expanded toward the bottom.
It seems to be a change to increase the size of the grille to enhance its weighty and luxurious appeal. The sides of the grille protrude sharply, enhancing its sporty appeal. The sharp line extending along the headlamp’s bottom is designed to connect with the protruding part of the grille. The inside of the grille has small rectangular points between the diamond patterns to make it stand out.
The design reveals an aggressive volume and applies modern design to the wheels
The front bumper features a horizontally extended trapezoidal air intake with a sleek horizontal pattern. The bumper sides showcase a bold, sculpted design with angular lines, accented by black trim shaped like an air intake. Adding to the car’s assertive aesthetic, the bonnet is styled with a prominent line running from the windshield to the center and subtle creases on the sides that enhance its aggressive character—remarkable for a subcompact sedan.
The Amaze exudes modernity from the side with its redesigned wheels and black-accented side rocker panels. The hidden-style door handles contribute to a clean, streamlined appearance. Removing the side B-pillar creates a unified glass window effect, adding to its contemporary flair. The gently sloping A-pillar and sharply descending roofline at the rear reinforce the vehicle’s sporty and dynamic stance, making it stand out in the segment.
The sharply designed taillights complement the simple layout of the interior
At the rear, the tail lamps feature sharply defined edges, complemented by a horizontal line across the tailgate that adds depth and volume. The tail lamp graphics incorporate horizontal and vertical elements, creating a distinctive look. The rear design also includes aggressive contouring to align with the tail lamp shape and the area surrounding the license plate. A horizontal reflector is integrated into the bumper, maintaining a clean and minimal aesthetic with just the necessary components.
Inside, the Amaze continues its focus on simplicity and functionality. Long horizontal air vents span the dashboard, giving the cabin a sleek, streamlined appearance. At the center of the driver’s side, a 10.25-inch touchscreen is prominent, offering an intuitive interface for controls and connectivity. Below the air vents, touch-sensitive buttons operate the air conditioning system, maintaining the modern, uncluttered design ethos.
The interior layout prioritizes space, creating an open and comfortable environment. Safety features are enhanced with improved airbags and advanced driver assistance systems. Under the hood, the Amaze is powered by a reliable 1.2L 4-cylinder gasoline engine producing 89 horsepower. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT, offering a balance of performance and efficiency tailored to everyday driving needs.
