Lexus Launches 2025 RZ Model
Price Cut of Up to $14,000
Notable for Exceptional Ride Comfort
Lexus is drawing a heated response from consumers by launching the 2025 RZ in the US at a $10,000 to $14,000 discount. On November 15, US time, Lexus unveiled and launched the brand’s first dedicated electric vehicle (EV), the RZ, with a changed model year. Why was the price of the Lexus RZ reduced?
This is because a new entry-level model, the 300e, has been added. While maintaining the existing Lexus design and brand identity, it catches the eye with LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and two-tone 18-inch wheels. In addition, it is equipped with excellent convenience features beyond the entry-level model, such as a 14-inch infotainment system, a 10-way power driver’s seat, heated seats, a power tilt & telescopic steering wheel, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, wireless smartphone charging, and a 10-speaker audio system.
Excellent Standard Features
Performance is also quite impressive
The safety specifications are also excellent, as it comes standard with the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, road sign recognition, pedestrian detection emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, steering wheel steering assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.
How about performance? The powertrain is equipped with a 72.8 kWh battery and an electric motor. It generates a maximum output of 204 horsepower and a maximum torque of 27.0kg.m. According to EPA standards, it can travel 428 km (266 miles) on a single battery charge and can go from a standstill to 100km/h (62 mph) in 7.4 seconds. The top speed is 159 km/h (99 mph).
Built on the e-TNGA Platform
RZ 450e Launched Last Year in South Korea
Lexus’s first EV, the RZ model, is based on the e-TNGA, an EV-only platform jointly developed by Toyota and Subaru. However, it attracts public attention because it is cheaper than Toyota’s EV, the bZ4X. Lexus RZ was launched in South Korea last year as the 450e.
At the time, the price was about $60,952 for the Supreme and about $66,767 for the Luxury. It may not have been desirable for South Korean consumers, but sales were lower than expected. Only 68 units were sold from January to November 2024. The same was true in the US. Lexus seems concerned about why consumers did not choose the RZ.
Price Reduction for the 450e
Positive Reviews Following RZ Test Drives
So, the new RZ 300e is much cheaper than before. It was launched at $43,975, a $14,000 cheaper than the previous 450e. When Lexus introduced the new 300e entry trim, they also launched the 450e entry trim at a much lower price than the 25-year version. The 450e starts at $48,675.
Lexus RZ 450e sales were sluggish, but if you look at various test drive reviews, there are many compliments. The most common review was that the ride was stable. It was comfortable because it felt like it was wrapped around the body. There were also opinions that the steering wheel was not too thick or big, so it was easy to steer and suitable for women to use. Therefore, expectations for the RZ300e are also rising. Attention is focused on how popular the RZ 300e, launched at a low price, will be.
