Hyundai Unveils the Elantra N TCR Edition
Continuing the Legacy of Hyundai Motorsports
Set to Launch in South Korea This December
Hyundai Motor Company has attracted attention by unveiling the Elantra N TCR Edition. The Elantra N TCR Edition is a vehicle that condenses Hyundai Motor Company’s seven years of motorsports experience and technology. Based on the know-how gained from the TCR World Tour, the driving performance has been improved, and newly developed interior and exterior products have been applied.
The TCR (Touring Car Racing) World Tour, which Hyundai has participated in since 2017, is a motorsport in which automobile manufacturers produce and sell racing cars to each racing team. Hyundai plans to launch the Elantra N TCR Edition in South Korea in December of this year and launch it in the global market starting next year.
Added two parts to improve some performance and differentiate
The Elantra N TCR Edition features two key upgrades to improve performance and design. An adjustable carbon swan neck spoiler for different driving needs enhances aerodynamic performance by increasing downforce at high speeds and ensuring rear stability on the track. The vehicle is also equipped with 19-inch N TCR-exclusive forged wheels, which are both lightweight and durable, contributing to improved handling.
The model comes with upgraded N Performance monobloc brakes featuring four-piston calipers. This enhancement reduces weight while improving handling and braking power. Exclusive TCR edition decals set the model apart, giving it a distinctive look that is unavailable in other markets.
For the powertrain, it is the same as the existing Elantra N
New interior and exterior products include an Alcantara steering wheel in the N brand’s signature “Performance Blue,” a front-row seat belt, and an emblem exclusive to the TCR edition. A Hyundai official said, “Hyundai has incorporated the experience and technology it has accumulated in motorsports into the Avante N TCR Edition,” and “We will further develop N’s technological prowess so that many customers can feel the intensity of motorsports in their daily lives.”
The powertrain has not changed compared to the existing Elantra N. A turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine powers it and provides a maximum output of 276 or 286 horsepower with N Grin shift over-boost and a maximum torque of 391 Nm.
Motorsport Legacy and Global Impact
This vehicle will be launched in the global market as the Elantra N TCR Edition and will inherit the DNA of Hyundai Motorsports, bringing the thrill of the circuit to the general road. Hyundai Motors has participated in TCR races since 2017 and has accumulated deep know-how in high-performance engineering by winning numerous championships. This expertise has been directly reflected in the ultimate driving satisfaction.
Meanwhile, the Elantra N TCR recently won the overall driver title for the second consecutive year in the TCR World Tour final held at the Macau Guia Circuit. Hyundai has achieved overall victory in major TCR competitions for three straight years, including the 2022 WTCR victory and the TCR World Tour that began last year. Attention is also being paid to Hyundai’s future motorsports performance.
