Jaguar has introduced its Type 00 concept car at Miami Art Week, marking a bold step into the world of electric vehicles. The British automaker describes the Type 00 as a work of art, reflecting its creative vision rather than just a car. This unveiling signals Jaguar’s commitment to electric mobility, positioning the Type 00 as a symbol of the brand’s future.

During Miami Art Week, Jaguar Managing Director Rawdon Glover spoke about the Type 00 concept car, describing the event as demonstrating the brand’s commitment to art and creativity. He also noted that it presented a perfect opportunity to engage directly with potential future customers. However, the public’s response to the concept car has been quite negative. Further details on this reaction are being explored.

Striking Modernism Meets Traditional Jaguar Aesthetics

The Type 00, pronounced “zero-zero,” is characterized by its long bonnet and fastback styling, blending smooth curves with geometric lines. The front end is defined by minimalism, featuring two thin rows of lights and a rectangular grille. The rear, with thick side panels, draws inspiration from the fourth-generation Range Rover. Jaguar describes the design philosophy of the Type 00 as “Exuberant Modernism,” a modern take on geometric shapes and vivid colors inspired by the brand’s past designs.

Futuristic Interior with a Focus on Luxury

The Type 00’s interior is a structure in which the front seats are divided by a brass spine, creating a combination of simplicity and creativity. The two large screens mounted on the dashboard rotate when needed, and there are no physical instruments or buttons.

The interior materials stand out for their originality. The travertine stone used for the seats and center spine, along with the wool blend inspired by hand-woven yarn, embodies both luxury and natural beauty.

Mixed Reactions and Uncertain Production Plans

The Type 00 concept car is built on Jaguar’s new electric vehicle platform, the JEA architecture. The platform is designed to drive about 430 miles (EPA standard) on a single charge and can restore about 200 miles of range in 15 minutes with a fast charger. The public’s reaction to this has been quite negative. Those who have responded negatively share the common opinion that the Jaguar brand’s identity has disappeared.

The design is also a problem. It may be a good car in terms of beauty, but it is so unrealistic. Of course, how similar the production car will be to the Type 00 is still unknown. Early test cars show a long, low body and fastback design, but detailed design details have not been released. Jaguar plans to launch this model as a four-door GT, and the official debut is scheduled for late 2025.
