Mahindra Unveils Coupe-Style Electric SUVs
BE 6e and XEV 9e, with Pricing Starting at $22,314
Indian automaker Mahindra has introduced two new electric SUVs, the BE 6e and XEV 9e, to reshape the electric vehicle market. Launched at competitive price points, the BE 6e costs 1.89 million rupees (about $22,314), while the larger XEV 9e costs 2.19 million rupees (about $25,857). Both models offer a stylish, coupe-like design and come equipped with the latest electric vehicle technology, positioning them as affordable yet futuristic options in the growing EV segment.
Futuristic Exterior Design with Aggressive Styling
The BE 6e and XEV 9e feature bold, angular designs highlighting their electric nature. The front fascia is a grille-free body panel with a trapezoidal layout, giving both SUVs a sharp, cutting-edge look. The BE 6e’s daytime running lights are thinner, with a distinctive ㄷ shape accentuating its body lines. The XEV 9e’s design builds on this with longer, more pronounced daytime running lights, evoking a similar signature in vehicles like Kia’s Starmap lighting.
The SUVs have durable fender cladding and side skirt garnishes that protect the body while enhancing the rugged appeal. The angular fender and straight character lines create a solid, off-road-ready aesthetic while maintaining a sleek and modern profile.
Up to 342 Miles of Range on a Single Charge with Advanced Tech Features
In terms of body size, the BE 6e is 4,371 mm (172.1 inches) in length, 1,907 mm (75.1 inches) in width, 1,627 mm (64.1 inches) in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,775 mm (109.3 inches), while the XEV 9e is 4,790 mm (188.6 inches) in length, 1,905 mm (75.0 inches) in width, 1,690 mm (66.5 inches) in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,775 mm (109.3 inches). The powertrain consists of two electric motor configurations, generating maximum outputs of 228 horsepower and 282 horsepower, respectively. The electric motors are mounted on the rear wheels and are designed to drive the rear wheels.
Accordingly, the battery is also divided into two specifications. It is equipped with 59 kWh and 79 kWh LFP batteries, and the BE 6e can drive 550 km (342 miles), and the XEV 9e can drive up to 533 km (331 miles) on a single charge based on WLTP. When connected to a 175 kW fast charger, it can be charged from 20% to 80% in less than 20 minutes. In addition, it is equipped with advanced specifications that are difficult to find in the Indian market. It provides functions such as a level 2 driver assistance system (ADAS), 360-degree surround view, blind spot monitoring, and remote parking.
Fighter Jet-Inspired Interior with Second-Row Displays
Inside, the BE 6e takes inspiration from a fighter jet. It has a 12.3-inch dual screen and an aggressive design, including a D-cut steering wheel and an angular gear lever. Ambient lighting along the center console further elevates the ambiance, and the seats evoke a gaming chair-like feel, combining style with comfort. The augmented reality head-up display adds another futuristic touch, enhancing the driving experience.
The XEV 9e’s interior features a more luxurious setup. Its 12.3-inch triple screen for second-row passengers offers entertainment options while on the go. The cabin features high-end materials, a panoramic sunroof, and a 16-speaker Harman/Kardon audio system. The longer wheelbase provides added legroom for second-row passengers and increases trunk capacity, making it an excellent option for those needing extra space.
