New RAV4 Prototype Spotted
Anticipated Renderings Released Overseas
Design Changes Draw Attention
Toyota’s SUV RAV4 is about to be unveiled, and a redesigned model has been launched. It is expected to be revealed and launched in 2025-2026. Recently, a prototype that appears to be a redesigned RAV4 was captured, and changes to the exterior design are also expected. If the new model is launched next year, it will be the first redesigned model launched in about seven years since the launch of the 5th generation model in 2018.
Since the prototype was revealed, related expected renderings have also been released overseas. The captured prototype has most of its body covered with camouflage, making it difficult to identify detailed design changes. Still, some changes to the front, such as the grille and bumper, have been confirmed.
Off-road SUV Aesthetic Takes Center Stage with Boxy Lamp Design
The front seems to have referenced the design of the Sequoia. The headlamps’ previous sharp shape was changed to a box shape, resulting in a somewhat rugged image. Black trim was added below them to complete the T shape. The grille has become wider and octagonal, and the Toyota logo and thick bar in the center give it a solid appearance.
LED lamps are placed below the Toyota logo and bumper, and the guard-style bumper gives the vehicle an off-road SUV feel. The angular body volume and straight bonnet line remain the same. On the side, new wheels with thinner spokes and red brake calipers are installed, but there seem to be no other major changes.
Horizontally Connected Taillights
Prototype Comparison Reveals Differences
The tail lamp has been changed to a box shape for the rear and is connected horizontally. It features a thick horizontal tail lamp, three lines, and a line-shaped turn signal lamp. The roofline is processed in black to contrast with the body color. For the bumper, black high-gloss has been applied to enhance sophistication, and the horizontal reflector is located as before.
The bumper features an air duct with a honeycomb pattern applied, and chrome garnish is placed at each angle below it. In the rendering, bold changes were made to the lamps, grille, and bumper, but the prototype is expected to have fewer changes. Judging only from the silhouette revealed above the camouflage. There will be differences as the front part seems to have sharp lamps and turn signals applied. However, in the case of the rear part, the lit shape is straight and stretched horizontally, so it seems that there will be some similarity.
Modern Interior Overhaul Expected
Insights from Rendering
The interior has not been released yet, but looking at the renderings made by other designers, it is equipped with a center display that has been enlarged from 12 inches to 14 inches and a new, modern steering wheel. The air vents below the display have been relocated with new physical buttons. In the case of the center fascia, there is an electronic shift lever and a dial knob that can select driving modes, etc.
The new RAV4 is likely to retain the current TNGA-K platform. By opting for a full redesign approach similar to the recent Camry update, Toyota aims to balance cost-efficiency with improvements in performance, fuel economy, and user convenience. The powertrain lineup is expected to include hybrid and gasoline options as well as a plug-in hybrid variant.
