Former President Trump Leads by 2-4 Percentage Points in Approval Ratings
President Joe Biden, seeking re-election in next year’s U.S. presidential election, is trailing all potential candidates from the opposing party in major opinion polls, according to a report by CNN on the 18th (local time).
In recent polls conducted by major outlets such as CBS News, CNN, Fox News, Marquette Law School, and Quinnipiac University, former President Trump’s approval rating surpassed President Biden’s by a margin of 2-4 percentage points.
Although former President Trump’s lead was within the margin of error, it is unusual for a sitting president to be trailing in all major opinion polls.
According to analysts, despite the small gap, the recent poll results showing former President Trump in the lead are noteworthy.
Progressive figures have criticized President Biden’s policy of supporting Israel, which is at war with the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
Moreover, they cite President Biden’s age, 81, as one of the primary reasons for his lagging in the polls.
According to a poll by The New York Times and Siena College released earlier this month, 71% of voters in six states where Biden won, including Georgia, responded that he is too old to be an effective president.
