Targeting Biden’s “Age Controversy”
Trump Reveals Health Assessment Results in September
His Doctor Declares “Trump’s Health is Good”
But Does Not Disclose Specific Figures
On the 20th (local time), former U.S. President Donald Trump revealed a health assessment stating that his health is in excellent condition. The release of such a health assessment seems aimed at President Joe Biden, who is grappling with the age risk.
According to The New York Times (NYT), Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for the Trump camp, posted on social media the health assessment written by Trump’s primary physician, Dr Bruce Aronwald.
Dr. Aronwald has been Trump’s primary physician since 2021. The revealed health assessment contains the results of a comprehensive health check conducted on September 13.
Dr. Aronwald stated, “Trump’s health is outstanding,” and “His physical condition is within the normal range, and his mental health, including cognitive abilities, is excellent.” He added, “He has lost weight through an improved diet and continuous physical activity while maintaining a regular schedule. I’m pleased to report that Trump’s overall health is excellent.”
He explained that this health check found no cardiovascular diseases, and cancer screening also came out negative. Aronwald said, “Trump’s ongoing attention to preventive health monitoring and maintenance should enable him to enjoy a healthy lifestyle for years to come.”
When Trump voluntarily surrendered for arrest procedures at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia, last August, his weight was 215 pounds (approximately 97.5 kg). This is almost 30 pounds (13.6 kg) less than what was reported by the White House physician in 2020.
However, the NYT pointed out, “The report mentioned Trump’s weight loss but did not disclose specific figures.” Also, “It did not disclose basic information such as blood pressure and cholesterol levels.”
The background to Trump’s disclosure of such a diagnosis seems conscious of President Biden, who turned 81. During the Thanksgiving Turkey Pardoning Ceremony on the South Lawn of the White House, Biden confused Taylor Swift as Britney Spears. He made a slip of the tongue while joking about his weakness, “age,” and instead deepened concerns.
In response, The New York Times commented, “The medical opinion of former President Trump came out as if to jab at President Biden.” Trump, 77, is four years younger than President Biden.
Currently, a significant number of voters are expressing concerns about Biden’s health and job performance due to his old age. According to a NYT/Siena College poll of six battleground states earlier this month, 71% of respondents said, “Biden is too old to be a competent president.”
The NYT pointed out, “All people are worried about the age and health of both President Biden and former President Trump.” If both the former and current presidents succeed in re-election next year, they will serve their terms until 2029.
