North Korea claimed to have obtained photos from the so-called ‘military reconnaissance satellite’ that it launched for the third time, which successfully spied on the U.S. military base located in Guam, a U.S. territory.
The Korean Central News Agency of North Korea reported on the 22nd, “The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un viewed aerial and space photos taken of the main military base areas of the U.S. military, including Anderson Air Force Base and Apra Harbor in Guam in the Pacific region, received at 9:21 am on November 22.”
It continued, “The National Aerospace Development Administration of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea reported to Comrade Kim Jong Un that the reconnaissance satellite Malligyong-1 will embark on its official reconnaissance mission from December 1, after completing a fine-tuning process for 7 to 10 days.”
If North Korea’s claim is true, it is speculated that North Korea has finally launched a military reconnaissance satellite after consecutive failures in May and August. However, the intelligence authorities of South Korea, the U.S., and Japan are skeptical about the success of North Korea’s satellite entering orbit.
North Korea previously launched the military reconnaissance satellite Malligyong-1 on the rocket Chollima-1 at 10:43 pm the day before.
