Only 22% of Republican Supporters Back Biden’s Israel Policy
Inflation: Identified as America’s Most Critical Issue
Biden’s Approval Rating at 41%
More Americans have shown negative views towards President Joe Biden’s policy on the war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas, compared to the initial stages of the conflict.
A CBS News poll conducted on the 10th (local time), which surveyed 2,144 adults nationwide between the 6th and 8th, revealed that 39% of respondents support President Biden’s policy on the Israel-Hamas situation. This marks a 5 percentage point decrease from the 44% support rate recorded in October following the invasion of Israel by Hamas.
Among Democratic supporters, 63% backed Biden’s policy. However, only 22% of Republican supporters expressed positive reactions.
By age group, 50% of those aged 18-29 expressed support. The figure for the 30-44 age group was 32%, 37% for the 45-64 age group, and 40% for those aged 65 and older.
When asked about the Biden administration’s support for Israel, 38% responded that it was excessive. This figure has jumped 10 percentage points since October. 8% felt it was insufficient, while 54% deemed it adequate.
When asked about America’s most critical issue, inflation topped the list at 27%. This was followed by immigration (20%), democracy (16%), and the Israel-Hamas war (4%).
CBS stated, “The poll results showing a lack of support for the government’s response to the Israel-Hamas war did not impact Biden’s overall approval rating of 41%, as Americans do not view the war as America’s most significant problem.”
