The U.S., often perceived as always a step or two ahead in global politics, bases its decisions on the results of simulations conducted by dozens or hundreds of experts. In other words, it calculates numerous future scenarios to choose the course of action that will benefit the country the most. This could be considered one of America’s greatest strengths.
The United States recently conducted a war simulation, commonly called a war game, examining the possibility of China’s invasion of Taiwan. The outcomes of this simulation have prompted the U.S. to seriously contemplate the worst-case scenario, emphasizing the importance of avoiding armed conflict as much as possible.

The People’s Liberation Army of China will undoubtedly attempt to occupy Taiwan through a large-scale landing operation. China has been continuously training to seize Taiwan through the coordination of its army, navy, and air force. The U.S. believes that a clash between China and the U.S. is inevitable in this process.
The U.S. speculates that no neighboring countries will intervene, and the U.S. victory is certain. China’s new weapons, including hypersonic missiles, have never been used in actual combat, and China’s aircraft carriers and air power are significantly inferior to those of the U.S.

However, there are concerns about the potential scale of China’s missile attacks, not limited to Taiwan but also targeting U.S. military bases in locations such as Okinawa and the Philippines. Such a scenario could result in a significant number of U.S. casualties, something the United States is keen to avoid, given its vulnerability to even minor losses among its citizens.
The U.S. assessment includes the speculation that China may refrain from indiscriminate attacks, especially considering that Taiwan’s semiconductor production accounts for a substantial 60% of the global supply. Consequently, the United States has declared its intent to focus on enhancing its deterrent capabilities to discourage any such actions by China. In response, China has expressed discomfort with these simulations, asserting they might encourage Taiwanese separatists.
