Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Sun-hui on the evening of the 16th (local time).
Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesperson, announced that Foreign Minister Choi and Foreign Minister Lavrov plan to directly report the results of their foreign ministers’ meeting to President Putin this evening.
According to Sputnik News and other sources, Minister Choi and Minister Lavrov had a meeting starting from the afternoon of the day at the reception house of the Moscow Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussing bilateral cooperation and the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
Spokesperson Peskov said, “Minister Lavrov and Minister Choi will report to the president on the results of the meeting and how the agreements made at the bilateral summit held in the Russian Far East last year are progressing.”
There is also a possibility that President Putin’s visit to North Korea will be arranged during today’s meeting. Spokesperson Peskov mentioned in a briefing the day before that President Putin hopes to visit North Korea soon and that the specific schedule will be determined through diplomatic channels.
Minister Choi arrived in Moscow on the 14th at the invitation of Minister Lavrov and will be on an official visit to Russia for three days from the 15th to the 17th.
